"Mastermind" marking: Mastermind (board game) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia[^]
0B means "zero black" - i.e. no correct letters in correct place
5W means "five white" - e.e. five correct letters, but in the wrong place.
All the other letters are wrong, wrong wrong...
So if my target word was CODE
And you guessed DICE you'd get 1B for the "E", and 2W for the "D" and "C".

So, the answer is one of these: (11C5 * 26^8)
r,o,u,n,d,t,h,e,c,l,k = 11
5W => 11C5
8 places left to fill => 26^8

I would rather write code to get all these combinations. Split it into 5,3,5. Compare against some dictionary. Get few results, choose one of them.
Just messing around. No idea how this game works. Even if I post correct answer, I can't create one by myself.

Yeah, but that's cheating - and it ignores the clue(s) and hint(s) give in the original. For example, the characters are usually carefully chosen to represent the word in some way.
For example, one I posted a while ago:
CLOUD (5)
The symbols spell "cloud", and the colour they are in is called "azure" - hence the answer was AZURE because Microsoft Azure is Cloud based.
And so, on with the motley!

You have been married for way too long. For me that is still blue.

Ah...but it isn't! If you look at the CSS / HTML, you see it's color code is #007FFF and Wiki will tell you:
In a RGB color space, hex #007fff (also known as Azure) is composed of 0% red, 49.8% green and 100% blue.
So Blue cloud would be:
CLOUD
while mine was:
CLOUD
See what I mean? Sometimes it's worth looking a little deeper into my clues!
Is that a hint? I dunno...
