...due to work and the Daughter's soccer training, and I've only just started drinking.
But today is the 25th Anniversary of my Mum's death from Melanoma. So faarrrkkkk you cancer in all your forms.
Luckily I decided to start work at 11;00 tomorrow.

A neighbour (I can see her house from where I sit typing this) and very good friend of my wife died from cancer around midnight last night. Diagnosed just three weeks ago.
I had high hopes for 2016, but it is turning out to be a bit of twat.

I went to a neighbour's funeral two weeks ago - bowel got him. He did well though: they removed most of his internals eight or so years ago, and left him with a colostomy bag instead. Nobody expected him to last that long...but survival times are getting better.

Indeed, and early diagnosis the key.
I believe it is around the anniversary of Jade Goody's death, which would probably have been avoidable had she taken action sooner, and at the time led to a huge increase in young women getting smear tests.
My neighbour, due to other complications in her private life, put off seeking treatment (not that she knew it was going to be cancer) for a long time, would almost certainly have bought her more time, may even have been curable.
If things change or aint right folks, get 'em looked at. It's probably nothing, but being told that is good, and you don't want to miss something that isn't.

I echo Nagy on this: FAAAARK OFF CANCER!
I'll raise a glass to your mum, and my mum (esophageal, spread to her brain), and my dad (spinal), and Kathy (mammary, came back with a vengeance five years after the mastectomy).
It's an elephant, and we need to stop it.

FIL got deaded by esophageal, spread to liver and bones, too. Ma is fighting boob and skin and just about winning; but not sure for how long.

Only followed FIL's battle at a distance, didn't realise it had got to his bones too. My Granny had boob C in the late 60's early 70's (before I was born) beat it, sadly left us due to heart problems (valve replacement, one the first 100 to have it!). So Farrrrk Cancer as the OP said being lifted in a southerly direction!

drinking and your daughter soccer training arent really matching.
You may regret that very soon!!!
Better tell your daughter some fine memories about your mother.

May be an English as a second language thing, but I'm not drinking at her soccer training. I didn't get to start drinking as early as I would like due to work and the soccer traiing.
It was almost 22:00 here when I got to start drinking in memory.

This has been done many times. The Daughter is 16 while the Son is 19. Both heard a lot.
