Yesterday I went to send an SMS (text message) using Hangouts and my Android phone popped up message like: "Would you like to use Google Messenger to send your SMS...blah, blah, blah...."
I don't know if I want to use Messenger now? Why would I switch?
Has Google replaced Hangouts with Messenger?
Messenger Is All
Why is every company renaming their app Messenger? Are they under legal obligation to name these SMS apps "messenger"?

Nah, Hangouts is still there, but they have a new app for SMS/MMS-only stuff called Messenger.

Thanks for explaining. But I'm not sure why I would want "yet another app".

Nope, but it is currently recommending Messenger for SMS. What this means as to the future of one, both, or either service is anybody's guess.

That's the modern world of technology.

I had the same issue when I got my new Nexus 5x. After a bit of Googling and checking out several forums it seems that the recommended app for MMS and SMS is Messenger. Hangouts is still available but is likely to be deprecated at some point.

I wonder how many man-years (Man–year | Definition of Man–year by Merriam-Webster[^] ) have already been wasted by people clicking a window, only to learn that it was the wrong window because the user cannot see the border around the windows any more.
Probably millions of years by now.
And people thought waiting for windows to boot up was a waste of time.

I've also noticed that a lot of web applications these days are using Bootstrap, nothing wrong with that - nice css, but the buttons and links are hard to find. The links on the buttons don't highlight, they're not bold, and there's no border around them. I waste a second or two on some of those websites each and every visit.
And slow drivers need to get out of the fast lane!

I'm talking about the "washed-out" graphic design aka metro aka "i can't tell where anything is and everything is blurred into everything else and there is no contrast"...
But, yours is a nice shot at Java. Though, I believe unrelated directly.

Can't say that I've ever done this (well, not sober anyway), even in the first days where there was no option to colour the borders! Using the touchscreen (on my Kindle) is an entirely different matter but it's hard to see how you can c**k it up using a mouse!
