The brix is noisy. Quiet when idling or browsing, but fan revvs up when you watch video, and if you have any apps that really load it, sounds like a jet taking off.

If someone releases a smartwatch that
- lasts more than a day
- works with the iPhone
- has sensible functionality
- isn't stupid expensive
- doesn't try and look like a "classic" watch (what is the point of that?)
then I'll grab it.
cheers

For the same reasons (except number 2) I am considering a Pebble watch. It works with iPhone according to their site. It uses e-ink which I find preferable to the LCD\OLED offerings.

No plans computer-wise, but if Pentax ever actually releases their much-delayed full-frame DSLR, I'll be happy.
One of my Christmas presents is a disk for my latest acquisition -- a used HP Itanium server -- upon which I plan to install OpenVMS once I return home from dirty stinking L.A.

I'd like to get myself a late-model laptop with all the trimmings (for development purposes, naturally! ), but I can't really justify it in terms of increased productivity etc.
My plans currently include upgrading my daughters' computers to something they can run Visual Studio 2015 on (one wants to learn programming, and I presume that sibling rivalry will drag the other one along).
At present, I would not take Windows 10 even as a gift. When it stabilizes (and has a UI that doesn't remind me of Windows 3.x), I may change my mind.

I have a surface pro 3 with a modest little i7 and 8 gigs. It is fine for development, and weighs less than one kilogram. Don't buy a laptop unless you cannot afford a powerful-enough tablet, 'cause the tablet is handy.

I have a 4-year-old laptop with similar specs. I want something with a late-model processor, so I can play around with some of the modern instructions (some of them could substantially speed up programs that I write for recreation).
The only problem is that I can't really justify upgrading it just for that purpose.

I'm upgrading my GPy from a amd hd5850 to a Nvidia GTX 970 very soon.
This beauty has served me well but 2015 wasn't very nice to it. I think companies has stopped optimizing games at all.
After that next stop is going to be a new tablet to replace a Samsung galaxy tab 2 or whatever model it was. Going to be a windows tablet this time.
A newer htc phone might also be acquired soon but as long as I can make myself heard on my current I wont prematurely upgrade.
Some gaming accessories maybe, mouse, keyboard and headset.
New GPU for my wives computer.
I think I will hold off on mobo/cpu until 2017.

Upgrade my S4 mini to Cyanogen Marshmallow, when they manage to get the sim card working.
Buy a Raspberry Pi 2 to work as a media center.

Now that my significant other has a nice new laptop with the latest high-speed WiFi I plan to upgrade the WiFi in the house and add ipV6 capability at the same time. Eventually AT&T will deploy ipV6 locally. Someday they might add fiber to the home if Google doesn't beat them to it.

I am going to upgrade my PC (AMD Athlon X4, 4GB refreshed with a 500GB SSD and Nvidia 960 in 2015) with a new Skylake i5, 16GB RAM and a motherboard with the Z170 chipset most likely this Gigabyte model. Been using my company laptop for most work, so the long-in-the-tooth-PC was sufficient for development/gaming outside working hours.
Up for replacement is the Samsung Note 2 which has been working well for the past couple of years. Taking the plunge with the Lumia 930 or 950, though I lean toward the newer model (SD card support).
On the wish list is a Raspberry Pi 2 to tinker with some hardware
One more for the wish list if I get crazy this year might be a Pebble Time Steel, really a smartwatch with the features I like, and sufficient battery time. Since I'm spending money on a watch, why not get a smartwatch for the same price

I am a 1 year experienced Embedded programmer. Is it a good to work in a startup(smart grid the electric energy system) with 3 years agreement in Embedded in INDIA Bangalore?

Well, given that you've only got four days till you start, I'd say you have left it a bit late to be "confused whether to join or not".
If you've just got the offer, then that's not a lot of notice. If you've had it for a while, then you've been rather rude to the company that offered you the job.
But only you can answer this: we certainly can't as we know nothing about the company, your skills or situation, or even where you live in relation to Bangalore!
Bad command or file name. Bad, bad command! Sit! Stay! Staaaay...

I've always wanted to be an embedded programmer. But I couldn't find a way to see the screen properly from under the duvet.

Same, the idea of being an embedded programmer always seemed exciting.
But I gotta tell ya - between all the shooting and this irritating CNN reporter, I'm considering even VB as a better option.

It's clear and sunny, and 30°F this morning. Brrrr... Next week we're scheduled to get rain, but I wouldn't bet on it. Curiously, last New Years Eve day, it snowed from dawn until after dark, non-stop. That's never happened before... Darned global warming.
