I have an iPhone running iOS v9.01. I used iTunes to back it up to my computer. I purchased an iPhone running iOS v9.1, and plugged it into iTunes for the first time and it did an obligatory backup. I want to restore the older iPhone's backup to this new iPhone. When I click the Restore button, the only backup it is finding is the one just made from the new iPhone. iTunes must be looking at version information in order to know which backups will work and which ones will not. As I understand it, iTunes' backup process is supposed to only backup non-OS related stuff like contacts, messages, pictures, and other app data. The problem is I've read several places on the Web about folks doing this same thing successfully (i.e., backing up from one version and restoring to another). Anyone have experience in the matter?
Thanks.

The instructions did not say to backup your new phone first. The backup that you did from your new phone probably over wrote the backup of your old phone. Try backing up your old phone again.

I bought the book "The Deus Machine" by Pierre Ouellette when it first came out back in 1994. I remember being totally captivated by a story that essentially wove self-modifying AI and DNA compiler and production technology into a dystopian glimpse into a future set in 2005. Find it here[^]
Enter Geneticist Jennifer Doudna. She and her team of scientists have developed a DNA editing technology called CRISPR-Cas-9. You can watch her (cautionary) TED talk here.[^]
Combine Doudna's work with what I'm about to listen to: "Stephen Hoover, CEO of Xerox’s Palo Alto Research Center, talks with Scientific American tech editor Larry Greenemeier about the revolution underway in machine learning, in which the machine eventually programs itself."
It looks like we've all been subjected to an old Chinese curse:

The thing about extinctions is you're not around to worry about it so why not smile? You're gonna die. So is every other human being. Does it really matter when and how?

Well I quite prefer to live a quiet life, enjoying it and dying old due to natural causes (hopefully without a long illness), surrounded by my family
than living a life hiding, fearing or fighting for my life surrounded by devastation and chaos
Yes... we all have to die. But it DOES matter and there is a BIG difference.
