Well, we picked a good weekend for our annual Belgium beer trip. Armed police and soldiers on the streets of Brussels and Antwerp, armed police checking passports on the train to Antwerp on Saturday, armoured cars on the streets of Brussels yesterday...
Amazingly, despite being very quiet, only one bar that we tried to visit was closed.
Hope all our Belgian CPians are staying safe.

That's just a useless overreaction by Belgium, hope they'll end that fast.
But none the less stay safe while driving, winter is comming

No, it is not. It is not "useless". They have made over 21 arrests, that is not useless.

How many are on foot again?
Don't get me wrong, but look at what is happening now, everybody says we should put a sign against that and be strong. Now everyone cowards and starts producing even more fear, Brussels is quite shut down right now. Who won now? Free society or Terrorism?

I think that the government of Belgium, knows how to protect its citizens better than you or I, at this current moment in time. Would you not agree?

I can partly agree yes

Basically, unless you have direct workings with international security and you are a security expert in these matters, it is just your opinion, nothing more nothing less. You originally called it "useless". Saving one life, by implementing a "temporary" lockdown, is not useless.

|

Yes it is, it is my opinion, nothing more nothing less, just as you said
A temporary lockdown is "useless" because if they want to, they'll hit something, it's just a matter of bodycount.

In many places it may well be considered an over-reaction.
In Belgium, I do not think so.
They're so colonize (infested) that known terrorist can walk with impunity in many areas. I've only become aware of the state of that Belgium recently, described by Belgians on how they allowed the situation to occur. Essentially, they abandoned parts of their country to these 'guests' who run it like they never left their home country (which I thought they fled because they didn't like how things were?).
Islamic Imperialism at its best!

..similar to locations like "Little Italy" and "Little China".

Maybe it's different in the US - but places like 'Little Italy' and 'China Town' (== Little China) are not hostile to outsiders or running themselves as independent of the surrounding (host) country. The similarity ends with the collection of a single ethnic group into a community: sharing traditions vs. (essentially) overthrowing the host government's authority.
The general pattern in the US has been waves of immigrants arrive; settle in heavily ethnic communities (essentially, ghettos); They and/or their children, then fan out throughout the country - keeping and sharing their traditions so as to enrich the entire country.
Don't mix up preserving their culture (as in customs) with recreating their caliphate in miniature.
