Movie Quote Of The Day
I can do this. I just have to work out the physics. I have quadrated my vector angles. I have adjusted for wind shear. Positive reinforcement.
Which movie?

I have seen this elsewhere.
I don't know what they call it.
Please help me (google and bing weren't smart enough)
This is the description of what I'm trying to name...
- A guy goes into an empty apartment
- He has some sort of weird upside-down looking camera
- It has some sort of weird reverse-mirror-fish-eye lens (Sorry, that's my best description)
- The guy sets the timer, and gets out of the room.
- The camera takes the picture
- He does that for every room in the apartment (remember, the place is empty)
- He then sends all those picture files to headquarters
- Back at HQ, a nerd takes those files and fiddles with them in software
- With enough nerd magic, a realistic, reasonably accurate, 3D presentation of the entire apartment is created
- Click click, cut, paste, FTP, blah blah blah
- Ta-Da, Website visitors can look at the apartment with a 3D 360 degree movie screen view
What is the name of the process I have just described ?

It's a "360 panorama". See this[^] link.

Thanks, but not quite it. What I've seen is a display where you actually scroll a 360 degree view.

That could be it. Yes, I think it is. I'll look some more. Thanks for the brain cells

I'd call the process geospatial mapping, and the outcome an on-line virtual-3d rendering. Not clear if what would be displayed on-line is a video. Are you seeking a name for a video about the process of geospatial mapping ?

No, not really. It is a video display, of sorts. You can pan left and right, and it actually looks like you're looking through a video camera.

I think this process falls under the 'Photogrammetry' domain. At least that is the terms that appears to be being used with the likes of PhotoSynth and Autocad etc.
