Down And Out In Beverly Hills

This is the guy who lured Cecil the lion out of the Hwange National Park in Zimbabwe (with two other local hunters) and shot him with a crossbow. The kill wasn't clean though and they had to track him for a further 40 hours where they then shot him with a rifle. They then skinned and decapitated him.
His defence that he didn't realise it was an illegal hunt is clearly a lie, as all animals in national parks are protected, and so by luring one out of a park was obviously illegal. As he has been on many such hunts before he would have been well aware of this.
I hope this story brings an end to all such trophy hunting. Only serial killers are known to keep trophies of their victims, so that gives an indication to the mindset of these people.

Fixedc the title.

Which is why he used a crossbow (a silent weapon).

I don't have a particular axe to grind on this subject. However the idea that you need the money from hunters killing animals you are trying to save has always seemed jarring. This is the outcome.

He's easily one of the worlds most hated men right now... Him and Bill Cosby!
But it's not all bad: It brings a lot of attention to a subject that NEEDS a lot of attention!

Now that I think about it, I don't understand why it would be a great surprise to people IF he sedated people...
He did use to be Doctor Huggable... eh, Huxtable...

Dr. Execrable is what you're looking for.

Given that the effective hunting range[^] of a heavy crosbow is "50, maybe 60 yards" he had to be close enough to see that it was a collared animal as well - it showed up clearly on the tv video when he was still alive.
And lions are covered by CITES regs as well it would appear: http://www.iucnredlist.org/details/15951/0[^] so hunting should be a no-no anyway.
Methinks he just wanted to kill something else and didn't care about consequences: it seems he has already bagged leopard, rhino, ...[^]
Bad command or file name. Bad, bad command! Sit! Stay! Staaaay...

Quote: Methinks he just wanted to kill something else and didn't care about consequences: I would agree. I don't think he cared about the legality, morality or otherwise of what he was doing.

Reminded me of that[^] although i have to say that Dchbg Palmer is a really big elephant.
It's sad an i hope this behaviour gets the attention it needs to stop such cruel actions in further times. I am a hunter 2 but i don't understand what takes those ppl to play against the rules :/

Where is he right now? Looks like his clinic - River Bluff - in Minnesota is not open.
Can he recover from where he is today?

I sure hope he gets a substantial punishment first!

Yes.
But, sadly, this may not count as homicide. Killing a human being, however vile, may get a bigger punishment than killing Cecil.

Stop feeding the other lions in that park for a few days, then release him in it.

Without his bow and arrows, of course

Yeah--I had added "unarmed and naked as the day he was born" to my original message, but somehow that got bundled up and apparently didn't get saved...

Depends - two of the organisers at the African end have been arrested (effectively for poaching a lion) and the authorities are "looking for Palmer in connection with the same case" : News[^]. So in theory, he could be extradited to Zimbabwe to face trial - though the penalty he would face if convicted is laughable compared to the amount he paid for the hunt in the first place.

50 grand. Money earned as a dentist.
As a dentist, he should have had empathy for pain, so as to alleviate it. Sadly here, looks like he inflicted maximum pain on Cecil.

BTW: I hope you never let him into India, because he will be going for a tiger next...

No entry for such persons in India. We already have many such here.
