The project manager, "Steve", insisted that we add a checkbox that would have us issue an "Are you sure?" prompt for a certain action. Since this action was supposed to be used to stop the equipment in the event of a failure, we thought this was stupid. Since he was the project manager we had to do it anyway.
I added a little Easter egg to the application. If the machine name was anything other than StevesPC , the label on the checkbox was something like "Confirm fast stop". If the machine name was StevesPC , the label was "Steve mode".

I would appreciate having a few basic functions at hand, without having the foul stench of Kies polluting my PC and office space. Things like e.g. alert me when the phone rings, let me type an SMS on a real keyboard, and then sync contacts. The last one I only need at a push.

ES File Explorer[^] is an app that you can use to transfer files, directories, etc over the LAN or to the Cloud, etc.
Someone else mentioned AirDroid, and that works very nicely too... especially for the other stuff you want to do.
