Why are you holding back the name of the NAS?
It would be helpful to others in the same situation.

It's a Seagate Business Storage 4-Bay NAS 16TB. (End of life with Seagate, so eBuyer have them at £350 which is cheaper than buying the four HDDs alone)
And other than that "little problem" it's pretty good so far. The email events work (which they never did in my previous one), and it's nice an quiet - which is a lot more than I can say for the NetGear ReadyNAS NV series!
The browser based interface is crisp and clear, and despite a few teething troubles I think it's going to be ok. 3 year warranty as well!

1.6TB of pr0n would be an impressive total - but who would archive it in the first place?

If it isn't pr0n then what the heck is it that needs 1.6TB of space in the first place.

For me? My steam account

{
MessageBox.Show("This is my signature: " + Environment.NewLine + signature);
}
else
{
MessageBox.Show("404-Signature not found");
}

I'd admit to pron before steam!

I can totally relate to that. Adding my GOG and Origin accounts + the CD-ROMs amd DVDs of older games the space could be doubled

Test data, log files, and old games mostly.
Some of it comes from clients with French and German branches, so a lot of it gets mixed in with diacritics.

Define "prOn", and I might have an answer for you.

Backup software is notoriously crapware. Seems like it all contains code written by a Unix flunky in the 70's.

That's without the backup PC software the box comes with, that I haven't installed - this is the "Protect" software built into the NAS!
But I have to agree, backup software is pretty much junk. I'm very tempted to write my own, using ZIP files on the NAS. All I need is the time...

I'm surprised you haven't by now. In the amount of time you've spent complaining about crappy software, you could have written something better yourself.

Excellent - although I banished it from my desktop because the previous version hurt my sense of a glorious forward march of technology.
I will say - so far I'm finding Spartan is a very good browser.

Is that "good compared to IE" or "good compared to Chrome/Firefox*"

As good as Firefox with some added goodness (reading mode is better than Safari's reading mode and the web notes functionality is surprisingly useful)

Did you tested it for development...
So Spartan isn't IE and for that, all the hacks you have done for IE do not work anymore...But it is still a Microsoft product so no standard support either...
Big fun...

Alex: Fix it? How you gonna fix this?
Skipper: Grit, spit and a whole lotta duct tape.

I'm with you regarding Spartan ... from my experience it is:
1. Noticeably faster than IE11 - and I'm talking about running Spartan in VM and IE on host
2. Noticeably more stable than IE11 - there are sites I visit often that regulary crash IE but not Spartan
3. I like UI better
