Yup - I have some Kodak super-zoom cameras w/Schneider lenses. Someone worked like a fiend to make so sharp over its entire range.
However - it would have been nice if you'd bailed out (or bought) Kodak's digital camera manufacturing division. It's since been licensed and they're not doing it proud.

Unfortunately, we have no influence on "them". Generally when a business goes down, Union makes sure the employees are protected or offered alternate options. I have no idea what happens next

Mind you, anything that would reduce the percentage of bent politicians to below 98% gets my vote.

I strongly recommend lamp-posts and some good Manila hemp.

Actually it was the Clinton administration in late 90's that scaled back mortgage requirements that allowed the sub-prime mortgage fiasco to precipitate and be the catalyst of the whole fiasco. But more than the politicians it was greedy Wall Street types to blame. They created and peddled the financial instruments based on the sub-prime mortgages they didn't understand. Their house of cards crashed (but hey, they got their bonuses). And still, no administration, particularly the current one that has dealt with the aftermath, has done anything to prevent this from happening again.

It's the politicians, bank directors, Bilderbergs, Illuminati etc. worldwide that are causing these problems.

Do you know that I've actually shaken that idiot's hand?
It was back in the days when he was a snooker commentator for Auntie.
What's interesting, though, is that everyone, including the snooker players, thought he was a bleeping looney, even them.
He's just a marketing moron that wasn't even clever enough to keep a job in marketing.

No, I was talking about this one[^], who started (or maybe only propagated) the bollocks about the Earth being run by alien lizards.

Well it's usually the UK that gets tapped whenever the EU needs a few billion, so thanks for helping out this time
They wouldn't do it for Greece though, that money will be keeping France afloat for a few more weeks more likely.

Well, I remember that Google denied for a long time that their ranking could be influenced from the outside (by money or anything else). It was only the "procedures" assessing the quality of the target site that decided the ranking.
So if Google now makes its money (mostly) by paid ranking, just add a big banner along the lines of "Our search result rankings are influenced by how much the target sites pay us." and be done with it. Then every user (in the EU or elsewhere) can decide for him/herself if this is acceptable to him/her and switch to another search engine if not.
The good thing about pessimism is, that you are always either right or pleasently surprised.

The rule(s) should be applied across the board, not just to the wealthiest (or easiest to punish).

The only thing you missed is that the basic premise is to make sure massive fines are levied against non-EU based corporations.

They wouldn't dare take on Baidu or Yandex though because they're looking for:
a) No repercussions, and
b) High net worth
Nothing at all to do with consumers or fair trade, just about getting hands on easy cash.

Baidu and Yandex are irrelevant in the EU anyway. Google has over 90% of the market.
