Insults are the last refuge of the out-argued.. You've now insulted me twice over a simple conversation. It's clear you're unable to contribute to a serious debate without demeaning other people.
Which one of us is trolling?
Don't bother replying, you'll get no more responses from me.
Have a nice day.

There are no insults in what I say. This is the CP Lounge; I only insult people here in fun, and this thread certainly doesn't qualify as fun.
Why did you take part in this thread?
- To have some fun? Hell no.
- For an exchange of ideas and opinions? Hell no.
- For rational discussion of preferences in tooling? Hell no.
You wanted an argument; you wanted to start and win a fight.
That's known as trolling. Ask any dictionary.
You weren't interested in talking to me or having a laugh with me; you wanted to humiliate me, in the way that only trolls believe that they can humiliate people who are thousands of miles away, and whom they will never meet.
You failed, by the way, because causing such humiliation is beyond the realm of the possible.
All you really did is make yourself look foolish, for arguing "I know nothing about B, but A is better than B!"
(That's troll behaviour, too, BTW.)
Like I said, if you won't admit it to yourself, you'll just keep doing it.

I have to back Mark on this one. In the 10 last years, I have maybe fired up an explorer ten times on my machine. I only use it on other people's machine.
Try TotalCommander, and you will never ever want to come back. The two panes are gold, it makes copy and paste so much easier. Mutliple-files renaming. Quick launch bar, quick shortcuts to special directories, thumbnail views, previews, etc... Ultraquick copying, works also in the background, almost accurate timing. Create a directory in one click with a proposed name. Actually, it has A LOT of small but obvious features a real file manager should have.
To me, when copy/pasting in Windows Explorer, you must leave the source directory to get to the target directory. This is a no go, so the simple fact that TotalCommander makes it possible to keep source and target visible is already a reason to ditch the windows explorer.

Again, I don't really care to use anything else. I copy & paste files all the time without issue. I'm not being stubborn - just don't see the need for a 3rd party app
If it's not broken, fix it until it is

This is where we differ : I find Win Explorer difficult to use and missing the actual point of a file manager, both from the perspective of a user and of a programmer, hence the need for a proper software. If it works for you, let it be

I can't think of a single, compelling reason to downupgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 8.
If it's not broken, don't fix it.

The fact that it comes preinstalled with win7 despite being licensed for win8 is a quality sign for Lenovo.
But if you want to try out Win 8, get a separate hard drive to do it on, you might not be able to go back.

I've been using Windows 8/8.1 for years. I love it. No, I don't use the pointless metro, except extremely occasionally. Doesn't the Windows 8.1 install offer an option to upgrade?
If not, I'm pretty sure I read that Windows 10 will offer one. Given that it will be out this summer (latest by August), you might want to consider waiting...

Not at all... mine came without superfish...
I've tested several other brands after years and the thinkvantage solution is perfect in many ways:
- Access connections which allows you to change network profiles with a couple of clicks (useful when you have to be connected to your network, home, machines, robots...).
- System update (which search for your newest drivers automatically and allow them to be installed delayed or immediately).
Those are the best ones, but there's also a password manager, system diagnostics...

As far as I can tell, my Yoga Pro 2 didn't have superfish either, but the incident did leave a bad taste. I'm used to PC suppliers putting crapware on, but not crapware that hijacked things. I was otherwise very happy with my shiny laptop...

I still had to uninstall Norton (as always with all of them), maxthon, nitro pdf, and some other wonderful and helpful software but that's another story...

What about that laptop?
Does it really helps being able to change it's "shape"?
I've found my new t450s to be extremely light, but possibly a little small in display (1920x1080 in 14" is wonderful, but I still have to see if my eyes will cope well with that or not...).

I mostly bought it for working on the train. The super high dpi screen has been useful - now the programs we release work happily in high-def, unlike Photoshop (from what I hear).
As for the shape... That's handy when I'm bored and want to watch a film instead of working. I hardly ever use touch for "real" work.
