Where are you getting these from? The back of a 1950's cornflake packet?

Don't be silly, they didn't have herbivores/vegetarians back then!
... and vegans were from the planet Vega and only appeared in SciFi magazines.

If you had she'd have 'ung u later. (There's something to ruminate on)

No, it means she's dumbly. Because, you know -
How do you know someone is vegetarian?
They will tell you.

I hope I'll meat such a girl one day. We'd never have beef, but if we do I'll just liver and find another

Vegan all agree that when you meat, you still won't know.
It was broke, so I fixed it.

I share your mourning.

See Westala and Villtin (Wikipedia)[^] and The Tale of Westala and Villtin (TV Tropes)[^].
Terry was aware of us writing it, and when I was about to do a small print run (illustrated[^] by a RPG/fantasy/kids book illustrator), I talked to him in the bar at a convention, and by bribing him with salt liquorice, he agreed to give me a quote to put on the cover. Not having read any of it, but having talked to both of us on Usenet for years, he said:"These guys might be sane, for certain values of sane."

If Pterry said that to *me*, that would be the only sig I would use, even on a business card.
I expect to see your sig updated to read:
These guys might be sane, for certain values of sane. - Pterry [year] to self

Heh. I'm not much for sigs outside usenet, but he was incredibly generous to his fans. He started out as a fan himself, and never stopped being one. He used to hang out on his fan group - alt.fan.pratchett - and participate like anyone else.
We once had a long discussion on a.f.p. about what art is, and in the end he said, IIRC, "I can live with your definition", which would be another siggable quote.
Terry even got me my only video game credit, by introducing me to his daughter, who knew someone who needed someone who could help with Vikings, Old Norse and modern Scandinavian languages.
If not for his fandom, which he did actively shape to be friendly, inclusive, honest, and inquisitive, I wouldn't have moved to the UK, and wouldn't have met almost all of my current friends.
And here I sit, lumpy-throated, in the office. I'll raise a glass to him tonight. He was a good human being.

I have an engagement this evening but on my return to home a silent glass and little prayer will be said for his soul. I never had the chance to meet him and for that I am profoundly saddened, I picked up his writing around Equal Rites and have been firmly fixed ever since.

What an embuggerment!
Rest well, Sir Pterry, and many, many thanks for the funny and thought provoking books - you will be sorely missed. My sincere condolences to his family and friends.

I never met the man, although he lived not far from me. I did do some work on nuclear waste pile radiation for BNF where he worked for many years as press officer. I worked with a number of people that knew him and everyone said how charming and genuine he was. In fact, he was one of the few people that I have never heard anything but good about.
I am truly sad, as I was when I heard about his Alzheimer's.
We do have his prodigious body of work that still makes the world a better place and will do for long after this sad day.

E-Mac's I found it hilarious when I met them last night. Obviously no one else in the group was geeky enough to get it.
