With that description I am sure your cat is not a programmer, he is in fact a Project Manager (I know this as I have worked for him)
which also explains the code that no one can understand
You cant outrun the world, but there is no harm in getting a head start

Stumbled across this piece of obscure writing from MSDN on HttpListener:
When a port is specified, the host element can be replaced with "*" to indicate that the HttpListener accepts requests sent to the port if the requested URI does not match any other prefix. For example, to receive all requests sent to port 8080 when the requested URI is not handled by any HttpListener, the prefix is "http://*:8080/". Similarly, to specify that the HttpListener accepts all requests sent to a port, replace the host element with the "+" character, "https://+:8080". The "*" and "+" characters can be present in prefixes that include paths.
Sooo... if I use a *, it (whatever "it" is) receives requests but they're not handled by any (including mine) HttpLisenter?
if I use a +, my HttpListener accepts (and I suppose handles) the request???
Gawd, between "receive", "accept", and "handled", I have no idea what they're actually trying to say.

I read it as
* if no other listener accepts it yours will, and
+ feck the others as you you are taking it!

What it looks like:
0. Some hosts have handlers dedicated to them for given ports.
1. Using * in place of the host allows the HttpListener to handle hosts that do not have a dedicated handler for the given port.
2. Using + in place of the host allows the HttpListener to handle hosts for the given port whether they have a dedicated handler or not.
If that's not right, then it's written even worse than you thought.

In my understanding of MS:
MS means what it says: "*" the request is accepted, if no other is handling it. You need to handle it somewhere.
The "+" means: you really got it (first)

OK, that makes sense. One day, I'm going to have to figure out how to test this, but at the moment, all I was looking for was making sure I had the syntax for specifying the port # correctly.

So you're in a hurry going on a trip and need to get motivated but been putting it off so you
re finishing up last minute stuff on the computer and getting ready to turn it off and get going when;
Prerequisite: You have OCD, 4 cats and a dog (new addition small, affectionate...Oh wait I'm in a hurry)
When on the floor you spot a ball of ?fuzz?, you stoop to pick it up and throw it away and it sticks to you're fingers, so you switch it to the other hand, like that hand is less static-y or something and it sticks to that hand so you try to flick it off your fingers and it sticks to the flicking finger. So now what maybe toes are less prone to sticking, call someone else in the house and pass it off to them or call one of the cats and stick it back on them.
Final solution; found something stickier than my finger and I"m off! Whew... See ya

More to the point - what part of his anatomy that something was located (and will it later clog the plumbing?)
