Woke up to a winter wonderland, the rabbits cage is crushed, a big chunk of tree came down into the neighbours garden, and bits of various other trees are lying round the garden.
Still, even like a war zone, with the coating of white its all very pretty.
What we have for driving are these things: https://www.google.co.uk/?gws_rd=ssl#q=youtube+snowsocks[^] They are really good. Going to have to head out into the hills and take some photos!

You really don't have hard winters in your country do you? From November to April you pretty much have to have winter tires on your car or you'll be denied to drive on. Some equitment that handy to have:
Knipetak[^] (no idea what the English name is)
Chains[^]
Studded Tires[^]

We have cold winters, but rarely snow for any appreciable length of time here. It lasts a week maybe. If we lived a few hours inland we would need winter tyres though.
Chains are a real pain though, they are so hard to put on and off, the snow socks, which give as much grip IMO, take seconds. And they are cheap, so if you shred them once a year it costs nothing really.

Yup, chains suck, and they can brake, and they cost a fortune and they are cold to put on and off (usually).
No, its best to live near a cost, it doesn't get as cold that way. I remember though, in the army we slept in a tent. It was -35 Celsius when we went to bed at night, so I'd bet it turned close to -40 at dawn, that was an experience I won't forget. Some moron turned down the heater because he was fully clothed and felt a little hot, while we in the sleeping bag was freezing our buttons off. At that temprature, the hair inside your nose freezes when you breathe in and melts when you breathe out.

Is Cortan an intelligent personal assistant? really? I thought she has an online database but where is her database? she likes to lead you to the search engine Bing.

How do you know so much about swallows? Well, you have to know these things when you're a king, you know.

So you say, if she was truly intelligent, she wouldn't use Bing?
I could add, if she was really smart, she should know things and you should not even ask!

Due to nazi company policies I am forced to use Bing (can access only to ~20 sites). It's not that it doesn't work, it just finds cakes for rakes.

Have you heard of this one:

In 99% of the cases it is as goog as Goog, and it does NOT track you, and with a bit of luck the Nazis are not on to this one yet.

They are onto everything except the allowed list of ~20 sites (5 of which are strongly political aligned newpsapers, all aligned in the same direction).

What is this place you are in??

Whne my boss isn't around I stick on the wall in front of my desk the panel "Arbeit macht frei".
Also: it is an open space and I am right at the center of it, behind a square column, with the desk close to the wall, so in front of me there is... a wall. To both sides of the column there are two big closets that block my sight in front.

I understood: that was an example on how we're treated. And we're lucky: a colleague of another department has been formally reprimanded because he used the toilet 4 times in a morning (she was on her monthly phase). At least in my deparment we can talk to each other...
It is simply a blind management made up of drunken simians, to put it in Dilbert's words. It is a company that revenues more than 20.000.000 €/year where any expense higher than 30€ must be signed from the CEO herself.
Why am I still there? The pros of the company are a hired place instead of contracting every 6-12 months, an average salary and a deep lack of interest from the management towards us: this means less problems with leaves, holidays and so on.
Also the field of work is interesting and we are one of the few big companies in it, so at least the job intrigues the mind. As long as I get paid and consciously know I'm doing my best I'm satisfied.

When you find him give me a call, he's normally desaparecido with rare exceptions. Not even the CEO can find him... But that's a long, long story involving thefts, weddings and companies (not kidding).

How's productivity doing?

Low and slow. We actually have Internet access: one workstation shared between ~20 employees.
Needless to say the workstation is 10 years old, has 1GB of RAM and several hundreds virusses and it may take something like 3-4 minutes to start Firefox. It is also the only workstation we can use to do remote troubleshooting on the customers, which is a service sold with every machine, and the connection is a common ADSL 640 kbps with whole 128 kbps guaranteed.
