Then you go for option B: Shut the f*** up.
Now, how do you explain your politically motivated abuse of the CP voting system?
Or will you be a much bigger man than I expect you will be, and just apologise for that abuse?

You are correct. It's a violation of Lounge rules and there is nothing wrong with ignoring it and there is also nothing wrong with reporting it.

Voltaire never said: "I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it"
But that doesn't make it any worse.
It was Evelyn Beatrice Hall that ascribed it to Voltaire

Let's be honest: There isn't a person alive who genuinely has enough information to know what is right and what is wrong in every circumstance.
Opinions and beliefs are all formed from partial information -- i.e. not enough intelligence -- and, co-incidentally, it is only people with not enough intelligence who assume that all their beliefs are totally right.
"I refuse you the right to express your opinions because they fall outside what I want to believe" is just plain wrong, on so many levels -- and it is certainly not what the CP voting system is for.

I do not think a voltare meant tht a software site should publish political messages. In general i agree there ahould be a venue to vent them out. But not at a software site

If you had actually read my message you would have noticed that Voltaire probably never said anything such.
Point is though that free speech is the base of all freedoms.
I'm not going to jump any conclusions though and assume that you were the one that reported the messages.
But if you were, I'd like to ask you if you tried to discuss it with him in before hand or not.

But not at a software site There are two venues on this site: The Lounge (here) for general discussions, and The Soapbox for politics and religion. If you don't like the discussions or their content you are free to comment, or ignore them.

Accusing other members of being drug addicts, and therefore criminals, is something that does qualify as abuse.

It was a clear infringement of the rules. The statement "no abusive conduct" is present in the boilerplate on every Lounge page.
Your intention was not to be humorous; you did not post it as a joke, so it was abusive conduct. If you are abusive to me again, I will report it as abuse again.
Denying other members the right to hold personal opinions is also abusive conduct.
Putting an opinion in your sig no more breaks the rules than putting your web-site address in your sig. It's a sig; it is not the content of the message, and I have yet to see anyone posting here just to get their sig seen.

Mark_Wallace wrote: Your intention was not to be humorous; you did not post it as a joke, so it was abusive conduct. You know my intention? Nope, you're wrong.
I responded to your post that there was nothing wrong with the sig by stating that the sig is in violation of the lounge rules (no politics.) Then, ironically, you respond with something about the old and new testament (a violation of rules since you're bringing in religion) which made no sense. It was nonsense. That's why I asked if you were high.
Perhaps since English is not your native language I can see why you got offended but your response made no sense whatsoever.
If I truly offended you and you're not just trolling, then I apologize.

Whether or not you offended anyone is irrelevant. You have stated that the rules have to be followed, so I shall follow them.
Now, when will you start following the rules that you insist on?
If someone does not discuss religion, they are not breaking any rules, and the sig is not where discussions take place.
Abusing the voting system is unacceptable, and will lead to others believing that they have the right to do so, too. Cease and desist.

Unlike you, I have not abused the voting system.
I have used it to report abusive behaviour, not as a means of disagreeing with other members' opinions.
I was not aware of the connection you imply between your African religion and porn sites -- but I am not interested, and do not wish to discuss it, so don't bother taking it to the soapbox.
