Please don't start carnival season early.

But look on the bright side, they'll save a lot of money on the posters for Bush and Clinton.

Am I the only one who misses the good old days, when Merkin presidents were assassinated*?

I hear Diego Garcia is nice at this time of year.

It would be really weird to see another Bush/Clinton campaign.
I wish we could move past this whole generation of politicians. Sadly, they'll only be replaced with more PhD's - piled higher and deeper.

Hi,
Happy New year, 2014 sucked the lemon for me, getting the sack (regulars will know of problems) and to cap it all a friend came up to Bristol for the New Year, ensuring a great deal of alcohol infused silliness, when low and behold I get a phone call from my Mum, Dad is not well. Thanks to my flat mate for driving me back home at silly speed and another friend of mine for coming too. An Ambulance arrived and I got to see A&E on New Years eve.
Bazar thing was one the Paramedics in the ambulance I went to school with and she was the one that recognised me (?). My Dad was taken in and diagnosed with an infection that caused the problem. So I spent New Year sober (?) and bored out of my mind. Possible good thing one the interviews I had the HR department have to sign off and I am good to go. So do I think I am owed one by karma & the universe, that is for you gentle reader to decide.
Must feed the fish...

Trust me, when you are in A&E with a parent, "bored out of my mind" is a very good thing: when people start to rush round and do lots it's not good news!
It sucks to be there on NYE, but it probably sucked more for your Dad...
Hope your 2015 works out a lot better that your 2014!

Just the universe finishing off a bad year with a bit of a scare - giving you ample warning that 2015 (aka quarter past eight) is going to be just awesome.
We await another change of pseudonym in the next few days.
P.S. hope the pater is recovered fully.

Thanks for that, just wanted to finish off the year face down in vomit like it started! Instead I got to watch most Jools Holland sober with my Mum, not really the intention but a lot better than lunch time.

2014 was a major sucky year. It's just finished off in style - but it's good to know that your dad's okay. Best wishes for 2015.

Thanks for that. Best wishes **** still haven't fed the fish!

Well hope your dad makes a full recovery and your 2015 turns out just fine!
I too spent new year sober, with me just back from work and the wife just driven up the road from relatives, I think we were both sound asleep by about 11pm. Never seen the bells...
It 13:30 and I still haven't a drink yet! The wife is cooking, getting ready for tomorrows bash. I am away to take the christmas tree down to make more room in the lounge.
I might just crack a beer open....

Agreed. 2014 was highly sub-optimal for me as well. I sincerely hope 2015 is an improvement.

Tney have these monitors[^] on sale this weekend at my local computer store - for AU$1299.
Far more than I can afford to pay for a monitor.
But I'd love to try one out!
Any rich bastards our there giving one a go?

I'll give it a miss this year and maybe wait for the next generation. I'd need a bigger room to get a bigger desk into!

I'm in the market for a bigger desk for the home office, too.
I currently have one of those cheapo glass desks[^] - I think it cost me $39 for an L-Shaped small desk - fine and dandy in the old hose - but this house my office is about 5m square - so lots of room for a real desk - so I'm on the lookout of a cheap but large corner desk - where that monitor would just look lovely!
Something like this[^] would be nice !
