Well, I'm putting together a website for the Department of Public Works in Dartmouth MA, hoping that this could become something adopted by more DPW's in the state, or maybe even the country. Long term, this could result in maintenance contracts, etc., but that's all pie-in-the-sky until I get the actual website working. I've got a fair bit so far at www.dpworks.org, email me and I'll give you an account that you can use to poke around what I do have. It's implemented in MVC / Razor.
Alternatively, I'd love to see a web implementation of HOPE (see sig) particularly the designer. That's a huge undertaking though with some particular challenges.
So, let me know if you're interesting in working with me on the DPW thing.

I have worked on the video processing boards that are used, lets say the next time I have to fly any where I am walking!

I took a few flying lessons and it was made clear to me that the pre-flight checks were to ensure that the aircraft was 'airworthy' and not that it was in perfect condition.
As the instructor put it to me "you car does not need to be in perfect condition to pass its MOT, well it's the same with an aircraft".

Dev: "We've made the variable float."
Manager: "Float!? We're making software for planes, not boats!"
Dev: "I know."
Manager: "So, change it! What's taking you so long?"
Dev: "You want a long type?"
Manager: "Yes, 747, that's the type and it's long."
Dev: "But you wouldn't need a long for that, it would fit in an int or even short."
Manager: "Yes, we have int. flights, long and short."
Dev: "So you want a long, int and short? We'd need a lot of functions for casts!"
Manager: "Forecasts? But that's outside our scope!"
Dev: "The scope depends on where the variable is declared."
Manager: "We have customs for declarations."
Dev: "Yes, they're in the coding guidelines."
Manager: "Wait, what?"
Dev: "Huh?"

Just had an email;
Hello,
This is just a quick email to congratulate you on winning the Land Love Magazine Book Competition!
Your prize copy of Bacon: Recipes for Curing, Smoking and Eating! has been dispatched and will be with you shortly. I do hope you enjoy the book!
I've found the book on Amazon, the blurb is brilliant;
Quote: There's never a wrong time to eat bacon, and this new cookbook proves it, offering mouth-watering recipes for any hour of the day, from Pork Belly Hash with Kale and Sweet Potatoes to Apple Pie with Bacon Strudel. Bacon isn't just an infatuation—it's a way of life.
Even as pork prices rise and the economy fluctuates, consumption of bacon remains steady. The American Meat Institute reports that bacon has an almost cultlike following; the Facebook page About Bacon has more than 10 million Likes. Its sublime savory taste has been endorsed by scientists as well: Bacon boasts umami, the seductive “fifth taste” that heightens and rises beyond sweet, sour, bitter, and salty. Bacon isn’t just an infatuation—it’s a way of life. In Bacon 24/7, author Theresa Gilliam and photographer E Jane Armstrong have teamed up to create a fun and current cookbook to feed the need for bacon. They include recipes for every hour, from dawn through dark, as well as info on topics such as how to cure and smoke your own bacon. Drool-worthy photographs highlight dishes such as Pasta Carbonara, Pork Belly Hash with Kale and Sweet Potatoes, and Apple Pie with Bacon Strudel. Any evening that begins with a Bacon-Infused Manhattan holds the promise of being an unforgettable night.
Some men are born mediocre, some men achieve mediocrity, and some men have mediocrity thrust upon them.

I wonder if it's coincidental that the number of likes of the fb bacon page are almost the same as the number of cp members? The number will always be smaller of course 'cause the likes of OG who eschew fb (but not bacon, of course).

There are probably a few Hindus, Jews, and Moslems (the order is alphabetical) on CP who don't eat bacon...

I was going to come back with a witty rejoinder, but we could quickly end up in Soap Box territory!

Now it is oficial, I am changing company. It has been a bit stressy but now is definitive, 1st Februar will be the first day in the new chapter of my life. New tasks, new company, new city... Moving together with my future wife to our own house, traveling much less than now, earning more and having less expenses (no extra appartment and 65 km less to work)
Man... it feels good
I am surely going to miss some of my co-workers but life goes on
