I like the laser sword thing. Even though it doesn't seem completely practical I mean the guard of the sword is also made of a laser that can cut you, that might be a bit unsafe for wielding.
The overall look of it is very nice in my opinion. But you must be aware that I am one of those people who acknowledges Star Wars 1,2,3 even though I can see the bad parts, there are also good parts in all three movies. A heathen you might call me.

Same here. I don't mind being considered an heretic, I prefer enjoying things without wrapping my head too much - after all I already do that for a job

I agree, with the distinction that it really depends on the movie. Some movies are made to make you think and you kind of have to wrap your head around it. But in my opinion the Star Wars franchise does not belong into that category.

I still need to see the sword in action to make a full opinion, but it looks great in the dark woods.
I find all Star Wars movies really great, so I am with you concerning ep. 1 2 and 3 !

Or it is a Cortosis crossguard + saber, that way it blocks lightasbers and projects its own blade. The uses of that blades may be psycological (it does, a lot, and it is typical of Sith fighting) and parry-lock breaker. In the standard Form I and Form V parry you end up with your blade horizontal, locked with the opponent's blade vertical and pushing. Pushing your blade towards the opponend may end up killing him even if you don't completely break its assault.
Of course it is dangerous also for the user, if he's not careful enough to keep its side-blades pointing parallel to its own body when parrying he may end up cut by its own. ;D

But, as we know, the lightsaber hilts are eminently choppable by lightsaber blades ( as happened to Darth Maul) so the cross guard would only serve to direct the opponent's blade into the grip - where it will slice through?

Cortosis isn't resistant to multiple hits - seems bad design to me as the part would wear out surely?
