Just had an email - in my Junk folder, but I check it every week in case something important got in there by mistake - and they are offering to insure my Mitsubishi Shogun for just £248 pa!
That's not bad, except for a few little details:
1) My insurance isn't due until next July.
2) I paid less than that last time I ensured my Shogun.
3) I've never asked them for a quote.
4) I sold the car three years ago...
Computers, eh? Love 'em...

Minor technical details.
Give them your money, anyway. They deserve it for having made so much effort to help you.

that humans will create more information in the form of data in the next two days than was created in all of history up until the year 2003.
I wonder what their definition of 'information' is?

I'll stick with the standard definition: "useful data", and call babysit* on that conclusion, because 99.93% of what he's calling "information" is absolutely useless data -- so useless, in fact, that the only people who read it are working for national security organisations.

It certainly looks that way -- because we do things properly, here at CP; we're a no-babysit bunch.

Sounds like they are talking about "consuming bandwidth/transmitting data", not in the generation of "new information". In technical terms, all information is data, but nor all data is information. The fact that they have to stress the fact that they are talking about information as "data" hints towards transmission.

Apparently it was Eric Schmidt (of google) that said it at some conference. I'll try to find it when I'm in front of a computer.

Tx for the link; it's not about consuming data, but we do not generate that amount of data simply by adding tweets and FB-posts.

Yeah, there are lots of people that don't understand the difference of information vs data.
