This prat has lasted 6 months. God knows how the managers haven't canned him ages ago, he has produced next to nothing in this time.

A very funny book "How to be a Superwally" describes small motorbikes with the silencer baffles removes as having a high noise to power ratio.
You just described the human equivalent.

Flew back from Amman, having avoided radicalisation etc...Decided to watch the sequel to The 300.
5 Hour flight, so that finished, decided to watch Rev - a UKian comedy about an inner city vicar.
Rev had a warning about adult themes 300 didn't.
300: topless woman within 5 mins , weird sex scene with the ever delightful Eva Green, plus Gore & violence.
Rev: most offensive thing - Pomegranate and Pineapple tea.

Sounds like an "adult theme" to me.

Ah but were the pomegranates and pineapples topless also?
You can lead a developer to CodeProject, but you can't make them think.

The pomegranates had their pips out and pineapples were hard core.

Well why not? We've had an actor recycled into a president!

If Al Gore was in the movie then there should have been a disclaimer

If you can't accept that, you shouldn't be allowed out into polite society.

Any recommendations?
All I know is that I want an Android phone with an okay camera (at least 8 megapixel) and not to expensive (which is subjective, of course).
I'm not very gadget savvy and all these phones are making my head spin... Samsung, LG, Huawei, HTC, Motorola, Acer...
Of course I'd rather just buy Nokia, but I've had it with Windows Phone. It looks nice, it works well, but it doesn't have the apps I want and Google's decision to not support synching on Windows Phone has made it pretty useless for me...

I have a Galaxy S3. I like it...I like it uh lot. (dumb and dumber voice)

Looking pretty good. Compared it to the S4 and I might even go for that one...
As it seems everything is better than my current phone though (Nokia Lumia 800)

If you want the latest and greatest, go for the S4; I would. (I think the S4 is the latest)

Yeah, the S5 is pretty sweet. But that's not the kind of money I want to spent on a phone

My wife had a Samsung Stratosphere (?) that went wonky after two years, then got an S4 Mini a few months back and it's started acting strange as well. (Possible user error -- she uses it for Facebook.)

I understand your frustration. You're stuck with windows phone 7, as I was (Lumia 900) and I can assure you that you would be pleased with Windows 8 phones (I currently own a Lumia 920).
There are many (really, many) more apps and they are much better; the OS is much better. There are very cheap choices of windows phone. The Lumia 920 itself is very cheap now (as the current flagship is the 930) and the camera is great.
Is there any app in particular you think you won't find in windows 8?
