Delightful, isn't it? I've been using it for about 4 years now...
In other news, a friend of a coworker has been struggling with a math class in college, so I recommended the site to her about a month ago. I got word back last week that she has passed the class, thanks mostly to Wolfram Alpha. It's rare to see a truly useful service anywhere these days, and to have it offered at no cost is a major bonus. Kudos to the development team and their budgetary masters!

Too bad Griff. I hope this problem is solved fast. I just wonder why you are using the phone cable for your internet. Even here in fourth world county we use separate cable for the internet (optical for the chosen few).
Can't you change your internet provider ?

500 milli bits / sec! WTF what can anyone do on a line with half a bit per second?
Just curious, cheers!

That is really bad news, OriginalGriff, and I propose that the Lounge, and QA forums, here, be discontinued until you are back with full access.
Without you the blandness on the Lounge would be intolerable; without your "voice of quiet reason" the hostilities may escalate into flame-wars, and I fear that many frustrated students homework-shirkers of C# preparing for examinations the night before the exam, would face disaster possibly leading even to suicide.

Being curious is good, Manfred; I suggest you extend your curiosity to exploring the meaning of "irony."

We might be using the rolleyes for irony. For sure, it would kill the subtlety, and is definitely not a 100% match.
I like your mental representation of sarcasm, so I second your proposition of the pitchfork.
