wow I didn't know NASA was that clever, fancy knowing in the early 70s that the stars wouldn't be visible from the surface yet still making sure that they were their and could be enhanced by technology 50 years later
kudos to them

So Dave, you asked for the demo to be removed?: Quote: I'm sorry, Dave. I'm afraid I can't do that."
Your final sentence: Quote:
I do wish non-scientists would not use words they do not understand. has far too many negatives for a Monday morning, I couldn't reduce them with a Karnaugh map, so I'm going home with a headache!

So we're capable of faking it better now. Time for another moon landing.

Mars seems more interesting these days.

Yes, a fake Mars landing is much more better, these days.
And, I'd also favor a fake landing on Saturn's rings. That would be exciting at least.
Give the audience what they want.
I don't want to be mooned any more.

So then Uranus is out of the picture as well ?

I do hope so

But also, I'm scared about why you would even ask!!!!?! Oops, I turned the corner on that one.

In normal circumstances I wouldn't ask but with the potential for a bad joke, anything goes.

Great idea! And just to top the lunar explorers' stunts launching golf balls in low gravity, we can have the team break off one of the smaller rings and fling it like a Frisbee towards Uranus. A ring around Uranus is bound to draw attention.

You are all too late. Landing on planets is now obsolete. People now are landing on the sun.

I just spent thirty minutes which I probably should not have spent, in search of a video clip that I know that I have seen before.
I cannot find it now. Can anyone help me ?
The vid clip is either 30 or 60 seconds long (I think; my last viewing was 5+ years ago)
It was on YouTube.
You could find it with the search string "Moon Landing Hoax" (back then, not now)
In it, the astronaut (putatively Neil Armstrong, highly doubtful to say the least) steps off the space ship (lunar lander) with the famous "...one small step for a man..." comment.
At that very instant, a large studio lighting boom/scaffolding/whatever slips off of one of its supporting structures and slams to the ground, in full view of the camera.
The moment that happens, stage hands charge onto the scene (in the field of view of the camera which was still going) and run around to put things back in order for the next take.
Has anyone else ever seen this ?
The fact that it is no longer available is clear evidence that the government is.....
(uhm, Just kidding)
For a short vid clip, it was one of the best I've ever seen.

Oooh yea ? then where is the mooncheese at 7/11 ?

Oddly, I always think "Gordon Brittas" when I see him.
The missus saw one of the Dimblebore interviews with sweet Gordon Brown (texture like sun) - she said that was the first proper politician she'd seen in any of the televised debates. It's coming to something when you're the leader of you're own political party and your predecessor, a discredited ex-PM comes across better. I won't reveal what she thought of Alex "Smoked" Salmond, it involved the language of the snooker hall, though she compared his trustworthiness to that of some of the shiftier Jordanian Politicos.

"Hi, my name is Bill, I am addicted to being very irritated by clearly erroneous technical documentation; I admit I am sick, and need help, and that my getting well can only come with the help of a higher power, and I believe this anger management group can help me."
"Welcome, Bill" ... repeated by many people present.
"Could you give us an example, Bill, of the kind of thing that sets you ... off ... you know: gets your goat, pulls your chain ?"
"Why yes, just today I was experimenting in WinForms with capturing a set of Points when the run-time user clicks-a-button and drags the mouse around, and then creating a GraphicsPath, and using the Points to add a Curve ... AddCurve(Point[], int, int, single) ... to the Path ... then adding that Path to a new Region ... and then reading out the transformed Points by calling the 'GetRegionScans method on the Region and "harvesting" what I hoped would be the "smoothed" Points resulting from using C#'s Cardinal Spline under-the-hood algo-whatever."
... whisper among the group: "What's he talking about ?" ... "He must work for Microsoft."
"Bill, can you translate into more simple language for us ... I mean most of here ..."
"Don't interrupt me: as I was about to say, I read the MS documentation, and the documentation for the third argument to this particular AddCurve method states: 'A value that specifies the amount that the curve bends between control points. Values greater than 1 produce unpredictable results.' That is a duplicate of what the documentation says for the fourth argument, and it is clearly a stinking error, a slimeball of a slipped sentence, an outrageous, egregious ..."
"Bill, are you feeling angry now ?"
"Don't interrupt me !"
"Bill, how often has this happened to you ?"
" 'How often ?' ... you can sit there with a straight face, and say: 'how often ?' ? What the hell is this group: do I really need to explain the trauma of even a single experience like this ... let alone years ... YEARS I SAY ... of wasted effort and time because of mistakes like that ?"
Mutterings from the group: "Is he high ?" ... "Anybody got any Valium ? ... "Are you sure he was frisked before the meeting ?"
"Bill, it appears you may not be ready, at this moment, to really put yourself 'out in front' of the group, like you are doing now."
"Oh, well, I'm sorry, but you did ask for an example."
