Feeling threatened aren't we? And no, they don't know much outside of video games or some computer crap actually. But that's not even it. They're boring because, like this message you're posting, they'd rather attack anyone real and are closed off, than to do something like grow up and come out of their shell.

Says the man who, a few messages ago, referred to women as "chicks", denied that there was any reason for them not to enter IT, and then suggested that they should "get their wild on" in order to "stay interesting".
I think you've single-handedly answered the question of why there are so few women in IT.

I think you've just answered your own question.
Bragging about how much "experience" you've had with women isn't something that makes people think, "wow, he's really mature!". You should have out-grown that kind of macho BS when you left high-school.

Want to come up to my place and see my DEC?
Edit: DEC MicroVAX 3100 and VT220[^]

I missed the time of the first computers. So far I haven't seen a punch card machine

That, my friend, is no mere "ancient pc", it's not any kind of ancient micro-computer, it's an ancient mini-computer!
A label on the back says it was converted from one model to another in 1986, so it's at least that old, I have no idea when it was first assembled. The VT200 was manufactured in 1986.
As it stands, it has two hard drives, no floppy drives. I saw systems of this type used as front-ends to larger systems*, so there would generally be (at most) one hard drive and no other devices.
I had to buy an adapter to attach it to my home network so I can Telnet into it.
I can open it up and show you what's inside, but there's not much in it.
* Sort of like having a number of web servers as the front-end to a central database server.

You would have loved the machines I first programmed; I had to build them before I could program them. SN74181 ALU, SN74xx registers and flip flops, AND, OR, NOR and NAND gates, and lots of SN7406 inverters made a computer. Then we had to make up a command set, and program the control store in diode arrays. DIP switches and LEDs were the I/O. Later it got easier when they introduced the Altair 8800.

I knew an excellent lady programmer in college. Her favorite "other subject" was sex, so I found her very interesting!

Code Project should be visible in schools.
Code project should offer mentoring for young kids who wants to know about programming.
Code Project could start contacting schools to discuss programs and activities that can be included in extracurricular activities. Walgle translate:

Women are certainly welcome at the Code Project but they are excluded from The Lounge.
The Lounge is an area reserved for gay men.
