Okay, I guess I never would have known that . The best part is when the hero happens to be eaten by the shark that ate her. After this movie, I didn't have the stomach for the next one - Sharktopus vs. Pteracuda....
It's okay to have a couple of these shows, but when your material is so weak that this is a hit, that's a warning sign. Got to go club another developer here. Not allows to bring in devices that go bang bang, but they didn't say anything about a two by four.

You're worrying about nothing. Even if JSOP did create a Farsebook account, he knows better than to point a gun at anything he doesn't want to destroy...
Did you ever see history portrayed as an old man with a wise brow and pulseless heart, waging all things in the balance of reason?
Is not rather the genius of history like an eternal, imploring maiden, full of fire, with a burning heart and flaming soul, humanly warm and humanly beautiful?

But I want to destroy everything.

Also from the BBC[^]
So, do you get lumped with all the extra work, are you avoiding work, are you just doing your job and doing it well.
I must admit that I apparently intimidate people, and find it an excellent way of avoiding extra work as the article says.
But I find the best way to free up time whilst at the office is just to be very, very good at your job. If you can do everything quicker than everyone else and then don't shout about it no-one will give you extra work because they don't realise that you are free, and no-one gets worried by your lack of productivity because it is just as high as everyone else.
Indeed I would say that those struggling under more work look less efficient and less competent than those successfully completing less.
And as the article says, there is rarely any increased reward for an increased workload.
Some men are born mediocre, some men achieve mediocrity, and some men have mediocrity thrust upon them.

I always found that if you are good at what you do and don't complain you get piled with more and more work because they know you are good and won't complain. I didn't get mad but when I felt I was getting overloaded I just told them to give it to someone else or prioritize the work they had given me. Simple!
Have you ever just looked at someone and knew the wheel was turning but the hamster was dead?
Trying to understand the behavior of some people is like trying to smell the color 9.

It's good advice for public sectors workers. The reward for those in the private sector is that they may still have jobs to go to.

Except when they are evaluating you for a promotion.
You'll never get very far if all you do is follow instructions.

Movie Quote Of The Day
I love Mah-jongg. Keeps the mind sharp. It's hard to find good players around here. That's why I play by myself. This way, I always win.
Which movie?

Are you sure you are getting one of them?
One has to beg to get one's machine upgraded here and then they will do it in a way like they are throwing a bone to you.

Thats the idea, we are going to give you a nice new spec machine, because we are nice people, not because you will be more productive on a whiz bang machine!

This is why I find it so hard to work for anything other than small companies/startups, the bigger the company, the crappier the computer
In a small business you can more or less buy your computer yourself, set it up how you like and nobody cares

Maybe the US is just a sh*t country. In Europe there's a correlation between being a sh*t country (pick your metric, GDP works) and percentage of the population that's religious.

I have tried to explain to americans how irrelevant religion is in north west Europe but they refuse to believe me. I have shown them evidence that church attendance is about 0.0001% or some such and they insist that it is 10%. 10%! There aren't enough seats in churches for a hundredth that figure!
In Europe it is almost shameful to say you believe in god, it makes you look like an idiot if you do. Americans just don't get that.
