Very cool! I switched off the "sound" option as I run my machine muted in the office. Does it actually go "Bang!" or something like that?

Good grief, some of those detectors pick up lightning strikes from a thousand or more miles away. How in the world is that possible?

First time 2 screens at home!
(While I am at it, they are 2 27" screen with 2560x1440 pixels resolution)
And tomorrow new computer (at post office now)! With "only" 480GB SSD! (And 3TB HDD)

nah, at the moment I am using my old PC (which is quite OK in fact) I am going to gift it to someone (who offered me a brand new high res screen as thanks). My current video car is not quite up to the task and one screen is "low res" for now (1920x1080) it's strange though... I wonder if it's the HDMI cable which limits it?!?

Not the cable: check the video card and monitor. They both need to be HDMI 1.4 or above to support resolutions above 1920x1080 - you would probably be better going with a dual DVI-D setup if you can for WQXGA (2560x1600)

The (upcoming) new PC has a video card with 2 HDMI and one DisplayPort output, so I shall be ok!
As for the HDMI cable it's 4 years old (my friend told me), so maybe it's the problem...

If the video card it's connected to is the same age, then it may not be 1.4 - the first products with that came out at the end of 2009.
I'd wait till tomorrow and see what you get with the new PC first.

Nice.
I'm currently running three 24" 1920x1200 monitors (off of my Surface Pro, my daily driver)--next time I change monitors, I'll be looking at LG's (almost 4K) 34" 21:9 display (or whatever's newer by then). Anyone use that yet?

Nice too! 3440x1440 ....
Mm.... you don't need to buy 2 screens with that one, I think there are enough pixel to run 2 VS side by side from the start!
I would say it's good choice!

Mmm... my 2 screens together cost about 60% of that one!
I think I will stick for dual screen for now! :P

Which screens? I have just bought myself a single Acer 27" with 2560x1440 and it is fantastic

They are both fantastic!
I have jointly bought a DELL and I was offered a QNIX
I think if I have to pronounce a judgment the QNIX has both a cheaper and better screen (it support hi-res on HDMI which the DELL doesn't) but the DELL has a better frame which is easier to rotate and goes up and down
