Reminds me of the traditional epitaph for MPs (Members of Parliament):
Here lies the body of our MP
Who promised lots for you and me.
His promises did not fulfil,
And, though he's dead, he's lying still.

Grandma: "For better digestion I drink beer.
In case of appetite loss, I drink white wine.
In case of low blood pressure, I drink red wine.
In case of high blood pressure, I drink scotch.
And when I have a cold, I drink schnapps."
Grandchild: "When do you drink water?"
Grandma: "I've never been that sick!"

Norwegian authorities can issue you a temporary/emergency passport, that I think you can get immediately.

All Consuls can issue emergency passports or some form of laissez-passer to get their Nationals home. Though in normal circumstances they make them pay the [inflated] fee for a new passport.

Well, a new passport cost about 50£ and an emergency passport costs about 50£, so I guess they are pretty expensive.

Bloody hell an Oz passport recently cost me over $300 IIRC. Even with the exchange rate that is more than double!

Wrong. A new British Passport issued through an Embassy is more than one issued in the UK. My last renewal I did in Budapest and it was done next day and the fee was comparable with a UK renewal.
Now, British Embassies no longer issue and they have to be sent away. From Budapest, the fee would be £102 vs the standard £75 and it would take up to 6 weeks.
I will be renewing here when my current UK passport runs out later this year.

Ehm Was talking about a Norwegian passport I don't know how much you would pay for a British passport, as I don't really have a need for it

Norway is currently a part of EU (not really, but its a part of the Schengen agreement) so there isn't really a need for it.

Probably a fake, but if not, the picture page in a passport is usually laminated, so any ink would wipe off, possibly with the help of a little solvent

I was interested in looking at that new language for iOS, "Swift", and encountered this on the "free to everyone" link:
Requirements: To view this book, you must have an iOS device with iBooks 1.5 or later and iOS 4.3.3 or later, or a Mac with iBooks 1.0 or later and OS X 10.9 or later.
Gawd. Apple has such an ego. It's hard to believe that that ethos has lasted, as it existed when the Apple II was around, some 35 years ago. And is the reason I won't touch anything Apple.

My feelings also - have never touched anything Apple since (not the fruit - I love apples). Sooooooo disappointed when the MAC came out.
