Then there's the Cell Phone Riot of 2014 ~ when Apple announces the iPhone 6 in June, ships on 9/15, then announces the iPhone 6S on 9/20 and ships the same day.
Or, something like that.
(for the record, I don't own a cell phone of any kind; thus, neither an Apple FanBoy or Android Junkie. However, 2 tin cans and a string, you got me there.)

What is this and what does it do?
It is a phrase often heard on the news from far flung parts of the world, Turkey has I believe declared three days of national mourning in wake of the mining disaster.
But I have no idea what it actually entails, are there any obligations on the state, state employees, the wider population? I presume all official buildings lower their flags, but do people have to dress different, is the TV and radio output altered?
If we have one here (has the UK ever had one?) can I have a few days off work to think about the dead?
In other dead person news I drove past the school that Stephen Sutton[^] went to yesterday, all the railings had a yellow ribbon tied to them, as did many of the houses on the road, the railings at traffic junctions, and many of the local businesses. It was quite emotional really. An impromptu memorial that has sprung up in Birmingham has lots of coloured chalk left there and people have been using it to draw their own little memorials on the pavement. People around here are very much determined to celebrate his life rather than to mourn it.
Some men are born mediocre, some men achieve mediocrity, and some men have mediocrity thrust upon them.
