I've just about given up on it also, just makes me so mad when they take something good and pervert it.

I use it in FF and it works perfectly.

I like how it allows you to download and convert videos (it requires FFMpeg for that). I downloaded some 'musical floppy drive' videos and extracted the audio that way.

Yeah I know the almighty dollar trumps all. I guess that means if I sell crack and want to start including high schools in my sales that would be OK because it's about the money right?

beh. No matter what cr@p they pull, there'll be a crack available within a week or two -- if it isn't already there in YouTube Center.

I run a VM on my Windows 7 laptop - allows me to run older development tools requiring Windows Xp. I just use the Microsoft supplied VM, but it's getting creaky, and I'm getting curious about other solutions.
Any recommendations? Your favorites? Any that you use or tried to use and made you cuss?

VirtualBox[^] is free and basic. I've used it with success in the recent past.

I second VirtualBox I've run it for quite a few years now and it's been steady and reliable.

I go with VMWare, and Parallels runs great on OS X.
I will never again mention that Dalek Dave was the poster of the One Millionth Lounge Post, nor that it was complete drivel.

I run almost everything on VirtualBox using 'seamless' mode - it's great IMHO...

If you use VirtualBox don't make the mistake of accidentally pressing "Cancel" on the Windows dialog about installing network drivers for it. You need to make sure you press "Yes".
Otherwise it fubar's your entire Windows install and you need to reinstall Windows
It's happened to me.

I use vmware player just for the case you specify. No problems, and as I recall it's free.
As I recall the conversion utility is called vmware converter(?not sure?).

VMWare Workstation is what I'm using right now. Since it started allowing for shared VMs to be be ran as a service like VMWare Server, I've been digging it. So now I have my web development server and client development PC on the same box.

I use Hyper-V for Linux and Windows VM's and VirtualBox for Mac OS/X and Windows VM's...I don't find the Linux under VirtualBox perform as well as under Hyper-V...though it's been a while since I tested that, it might have improved since then.
I've actually got DOS working in a Hyper-V VM too...good times!
