This is not exactly what I meant. I wonder why they are all writing URGENNTTTTT and PLLLLZZZZZZZ, instead of "Please help me, this is urgent".

"Please help me, this is urgent" is English.
Do you expect the texting generation will text in English? I think not.

I consider myself as a part of the texting generation, yet I manage to write more or less complete sentences.
I will never again mention that Dalek Dave was the poster of the One Millionth Lounge Post, nor that it was complete drivel.

Moronity - They don't see that (at least trying to write) proper english on an english site will get them further. But then again, all humans are supposed to learn during their life and so I hope that they will, too.
It's not cultural, look at all these poor human beings on Twitter who are shortening and abusing their language (be it english or german or french) to sound 'cool' and tell the world more of what doesn't interest anyone in 140 characters.

Isn't this just meme culture bleeding into programming culture?
I occasionally add similar redundant / moronic slang to mails when I consider a problem both low priority and out of band with my regular work. Only when addressing friends / peers mind you, never in official work correspondence.
(Except once, when someone sent me an email entitled "BUSINESS". In reply, it might have ended up as "SERIOUS BUSINESS".)

The "urgent" part, I was told some time ago, is a cultural thing.

What culture is so impatient so as not to be polite when asking for help.
That is a rhetorical question by the way.

Actually, I wasn't thinking about any culture in particular. It seems the current generation has a sense of entitlement that I did not have when I was growing up.

Could be a cultural thing... Every time I deal with some of our international customers (I won't name anyone), we get interesting English (although, I'm sure they find American English to be odd as well).

On a realistic note, I think it just grew out of escallation.
early on someone posted "Urgent Please!"
Someone else did "Urgent PLZ" becasue they didn't know how to spell please
and so it escalated - with people copying (from memory) otehr people's words, in anotehr language, until it became a meme in its own right.

I blame Hollywood's representation of hackers and their use of leet speak.(Which I probably misspelled.)

The bad spelling comes from it being the 'Internet generation' who see forums and blogs all over the place where spelling and grammar are optional. 'Plz' is a pretty common spelling.
I suspect the 'it's urgent' is cultural (Indian vs western) – saying something's urgent when asking for help here makes you look needy and rude, presumably it doesn't over there.
