OK, I can live with the "new version is available, do you want to upgrade?" message - I'm used to Chrome updating without asking, but I can live with it.
OK, I can live with it needing a restart after each and every update. Again, I'm used to Chrome not needing it, but it's not a big deal.
But why, oh why, does it every damn time have to complain that UK English is not compatible and ask if I want to get a new version - which is the same as the old version? Stupid!

How about pretty much every single time I used (note: past tense) Firefox it would open up with that damn annoying "Well this is embarrassing" page because it supposedly could not re open the last tabs I had open. I didn't want it to open the tabs I had open last time.
I use Chrome now.

Theory: Since it's open source, anybody can get the code, fix what's broken, and submit the fixed code.
Reality: We've all got better things to do than fix other people's problems. Firefox is no exception and needs to get its sh*t together.

I think it's good but some of their practices are annoying.
Want to download a binary? "Nope, you have to compile it." "But I don't have that particular compiler/toolchain/library installed?" "Tough sh*t."

I guess it's like anything else really - sometimes it's a good idea and it works really well: Handbrake and Filezilla for example.
Other times...it doesn't. Early Mono and Open Office for example:
Depends to an extent on the quality of the coders involved I suspect.

And what about extensions? Like FireBug that have to be updated too, because new FF can't play with it? But no new FireBug jet - so wait a week or two...

go in services.msc and disable their mozilla cleanup service (i think that's the one) - and you can then check for updates manually.

Tornado in CA/a>[^]
I saw it form down in the distance over Roseville, and when I came out of the supermarket about 6:30 the remains of it was right overhead, about 60 ft up, a big rotating mass of cloud, with winds about 30 to 40 mph I guess. Quite impressive, although it didnt touch down again.
(Thats thr first tornao in the vid, the second one was further north.)
I hung around for a bit and it headed off east quite slowly.
Never seen a tornado before, and I wouldnt want to be that close to one any bigger, thats for sure.

I'm from Xenia, Ohio. Next Tuesday marks the 40th anniversary of a 'super outbreak' that wiped out 55% of the structures in my town and killed 34 people.
Our attitude is, if it's less than an EF-3, it ain't worth worryin' about.

I realize that we USians have a reputation for getting things wrong, but I am still surprised when it is fully deserved.
The "special" at the company cafe (note the lack of accent over the e) today was listed as "pub style fish and chips".
I wasn't terribly surprised to see potato chips rather than french fries, just disappointed.
So, OK, it's not really pub style (fish and chips) , it's more like (pub style fish) and chips .
But it also came with what was listed as "cole slaw". I have no idea whether or not cole slaw is a traditional pub item, but I bet you that if it is, it isn't lettuce-based -- that's right, it was actually a small garden salad soaked in some sort of dressing.

Coleslaw is white cabbage and carrot, grated, and mixed with Mayo and pepper.
It's good in sandwiches, and very good in a kebab with serous hot chili sauce. With fish and chips? No, thank you, but no.

There are of course variations but, and I checked to be sure, a non-trivial item in most recipes is vinegar. Actually the ones that don't have vinegar tend to be weird (pineapple?)

I just had a quick google, and didn't find any recipes with vinegar on the first page: 1 with lemon juice, a couple with mustard, and two with yoghurt(? ?) but no vinegar. Maybe it's a local variation?

I'd expect it to be a bit vinegary. But maybe that's just because I vinegar my chips so the coleslaw alongside gets some too.
(It works really well with fish and chips actually, you should try it one day.)

The only thing coleslaw is good in is a dustbin, possibly a compost bin.

How in the hell could they even consider that being close to "Pub style fish and chips"?
