Just gonna leave this here and see who falls foul of the enviro-politics rule:
"$19 million to examine gas emissions from cow flatulence"

Yeah that was one of my favorites but $19 million? I'd have done it for a lot less and tested cows all over the world.

That's great, I especially like the second one. I wish they'd have links
to the results of said research as I desperately wanted to know since I

Especially after the tax payers spent all that money on the research. I guess you could always go with the Freedom of Information Act?

I think I've heard that before. I also assume that the Americans with Disabilities Act would preclude it. At best they'd send around a large print questionaire asking whether or not you would prefer thinner letters.
You'll never get very far if all you do is follow instructions.

True. Then we'd need to appoint a special committee to commission a study of what the optimum thickness for letters might be, how various disadvantaged groups might be impacted by the change, what measures will be required to mitigate said negative impacts, and to recommend to Congress the enabling legislation to be debated in sub-committees before being quashed for lack of bi-partisan support, or passed with amendments entirely unrelated to the original bill which will cost 14 times the estimated savings from the original proposal.

Yes, I can see that.
What I find fascinating is the vast distances involved. 220 million light years away/ago*. Mind bogglingly interesting.
* that's 1,293,297,582,100,394,200,000 miles, roughly!
I wonder if we'll ever get there...

Truly amazing. Thanks for sharing.
I have to say though, it looks like some giant cosmic fart. Especially if you imagine the pictured galaxy as some galactic orifice...

I am in awe that one galaxy can put out a half a million light year long trail of dust dense enough to be seen 220 million light years away. Wow.
