The question I have is how were passports, reported stolen over a year ago, still effective in allowing people onto a flight? To me this is proof the efforts of the TSA(1) are really nothing more than a dog and pony show. With all our computerized systems in place it isn't possible to identify when someone is using a stolen passport? These weren't flagged?
According to reports more 'suspect passports' have been identified.
Seems to me checking them after the wreck is a little too late.
What does a 'no fly' list mean if half the people on the plan are using stolen passports?
Can I make my own passport with a 3x5 card and a crayon and board a plane?
Why do they put honest citizens through the wringer on this if they don't even check these things?
NOTES
---------------------------------------------------------
1: I realize this was Malaysian Airlines but would our TSA know about a passport stolen in Thailand two years ago? Somewhere, someone is dropping the ball on this one.

To be fair, those poor staff. Can you imagine working on a check-in desk where 90% of your customers were Chinese and you had to be responsible for checking their passport photo matched their face!

Agreed: it's just saying "they all look the same to me" which is not acceptable in cats, so why should it be in humans?

You definitely can't say that! The grey ones are from American Immigrant stock, who came over here and stole all the red ones jobs!

The greys are just tree-rats, so I'm fine with that.

I was reviewing the posts in my thread and randomly clicked on this one.
I'm not going to read the posts that lead up to this one, rather, I'll resign myself to a sense of wonderment on how we got to 'Sheep'.

From this I read one mustn't be too choosy about women you make love to. As they say, all cats look grey in the dark.
