Years ago, my PM and I had to go a couple hundred miles to visit a customer, and we had Jasper on cassette in his car. We must have played Magic Roundabout as dozen times on that journey.
Got to the customer, went up in the lift and the door opened.
There in front of us was the customer Dillon.
I looked at Phil. Phil looked and me. "That's no way to talk to a lady" went through both our minds and we cracked up completely.
Dillon was not a happy bunny...

A young man is released from prison on parole. A condition of his parole is that he wear a monitoring device that tracks his movement. Monitoring devices are frequently used to make sure that the parolee stays within the other conditions, such as house arrest. So what kind of an idiot is on parole, has a monitoring device locked on to his ankle, and still goes out on a robbery job?
This kind[^].

I'm considering moving my web host to Arvixe[^]. Any good or bad stories about this provider?
Thanks,

I currently own or manage six domains with them. They're okay.
Their 24/7 online chat support is severely lacking - I've waited as long as 30 minutes for one of their support people to come on line, and even then, they're mostly useless. If you call instead, you're better off. No real horror stories other than the time they moved my personal site to a new server, and didn't check my configuration before turning it back on.

I switched to Arvixe a while back since they seemed to be doing a decent job hosting paddedwall.org and it always responds nicely. It's worked out good for me, and tech support - the one time it was needed - was very responsive.

They're ok but you'll find your site goes down quite randomly for a few minutes. I have complained and it gets better for a while and then starts again. Considering moving away.

Hi Mark,
We are sorry that you have had issues with our service (Arvixe). We do have a 24/7 server monitoring team that makes sure if there is a server issue that is fixed as quickly as possible. They also work to prevent servers issues. Our QA team will be reaching out to you as we do want to work with you and make sure your experience is excellent. If you have any questions (or anyone else does) they can also be reached at QA{@}arvixe{.}com.
Regards,
Noah at Arvixe

I switched to them about three years ago, and (provided you remember to subscribe to email alerts) I've had few problems - there was a week of daily DDOS attacks which they mitigated pretty quickly each time, and a couple of server upgrades which slowed the email / website down for a couple of hours. The website stopped working completely after one upgrade, but they fixed it by editing my web.config as soon as alerted - the upgraded system had slightly different settings which crashed the site.
Not bad - there are certainly a heck of a lot worse out there for the same money!

Arvixe is excellent. The most surprising thing is that I never had any problem.
When I asked them some questions, they replied me so fast that I wondered how they paid their staff for such small price.
They are really excellent. (by the way, my websites are very low traffic)

I've hosted four ASP.NET sites with them for the past three years. They are OK, I'd give them a 7/10. Support is OK, albeit the wait can be long on the chat and they are not good with complex configuration issues (have to escalate). The higher volume sites crash periodically and I have to restart the app pool. Their shared servers are pretty overloaded (I am on DOCK.arvixe.com), so initial page loads and SQL queries can be mighty slow.
I am thinking of moving my new clients to Mochahost but Mocha does not have a European data center (Arvixe does) -- I have several European clients -- so I am a little torn.
