Glad to hear it.

After endless try and error playing we found out why it won't read it's configuration from the XML file:
Who would've though that the method Configure(string file) is asking for the content of the file, and not the path?
I'm so done with that little piece of cr@p.

Weird: use it all the time with no problem.

Are you sure we talk of log4cxx? There are also log4cpp and log4cplus out there. Maybe I'm wrong there, since we had to do some adaptions to it to get it to compile with native MS/VS2012 compiler

Ignore me: I'm an idiot. Read that as log4net; no idea why.

log4net indeed works like a charm, had it used in other places without problems - log4cxx isn't bad as it is, it just fails to cope with the various compilers available for c++ - Standards are not too strict, and so many compilers do whatever they want whenever they see a chance.

log4cxx is at best a beta and maybe even an alpha.
(Those that work on the bleeding edge should expect to bleed.)
And open source so there is at least the possibility that you could improve it if you want.

I didn't chose to work there - I am forced to evaluate it as a possibility. I have the Log package of Boost under evaluation, too - What a joy to work with it!
I got an PM whos in command of chosing the tool, I only deliver the decision facts. And he explicitely *wanted* to have log4cxx evaluated.

As part of the evaluation add a breakdown of the tasks (costs) necessary to make it workable.

Regular viewers may remember I was in a car accident back in November, I've been suffering with back and hip pain since and finally been diagnosed with a prolapsed disc in my back. Can barely walk at the moment, the pain in my back is remarkable (in my experience, I do realise others have endured far worse).
Going in to hospital next Wednesday to have an injection of some sort in my spine to try to ease the problem.
Just had to fill out a great big form from the hospital about my lifestyle and medical history, current situation and so on.
In the bit about anything making my condition worse I was able to add "filling this form out hurt like a bitch".
In a twist of fate the particular hospital I'm now being seen at is just around the corner from where the woman who hit me lives.
Some men are born mediocre, some men achieve mediocrity, and some men have mediocrity thrust upon them.
