My original MS account was setup using an ISP provided email. My Windows Phone was setup a few months before I dropped said provider and switched everything over to an outlook.com address, setting it first as an alias, then as the primary. Last week, my email started acting up, (using the old email address for replies) so I deleted the offending alias. (the original MS email address that I dropped) One problem solved, and another lurking. Yesterday, I decide to let my WP apps update, but it says it is having trouble logging into the MS account...wrong email address. Bad news, you can't change the email address without resetting the phone to factory settings first. I know what I will be doing tomorrow.

You would think so! The place isn't new, its 30 year old. They maybe just found a set of hospital plans lying around and thought "they'll do" when they were building it!

It looks like them old time horror movies. Pretty neat though. You guys have pool tables and that is enough for me to love the place. Just add a bar fridge and I will send out my resume to you.

You'd be surprised, the now torn down R&D facility I used to work at (built by a well known multi-national oil company) was exactly that, a set of hospital plans.
Operating theatres = Chemistry labs
Private rooms, examination rooms = Offices
Storage = storage
Wide corridors, lifts etc. etc.
The old ones are utilitarian, simple and probably cheap to build. Job done, not eactly inspiring but it was 1970 (ish).
Not sure the new, modern, stylish hospitals would work quite so well...

Awesome photos, looks like some of the ships I've been on.

It looks nice.
And which is in general terms your job there?

I find the floor plan quite interesting. There is a Clean locker room and a Duty locker room. Which my brain of course read as Dirty locker room.

I don't know what I expected - just looks a bit sterile - I guess inside/accommodation is a stark contrast to the 'work/outside areas' though. Nice to see they have a pretty good 'sick bay'.

When the owners require them to run for 30+ years to get a good ROI, they tend to keep them extremely clean. The only rigs I've been on that were really nasty were the ones that were scrapped then bought for pocket change and put back into service.

Entertainment room could use some improvement. Overall a lot nicer than the rigs I've been on, I usually get on the exploration/initial well rigs. A lot of Diamond and Transocean rigs mostly, and all floaters so pool table is out of the question . They are really spoiling you with the sauna though!

What do you suggest, what is missing? However, in addition to this area, there is also separate TV rooms for Smoking/Non Smoking, a separate Internet Cafe computer room, a fully equipped gymnasium. There was also a large cinema with staged flooring etc, but apparently that was never used so is in the process of be converted to an equipment room for the new control system and office for the system engineers.
We are planning a refit in 2015.

Years ago I came across this pamphlet:
http://www.pbm.com/~lindahl/real.programmers.html[^]
It reads:
"Some of the most awesome Real Programmers of all work at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in California. Many of them know the entire operating system of the Pioneer and Voyager spacecraft by heart. With a combination of large ground-based Fortran programs and small spacecraft-based assembly language programs, they are able to do incredible feats of navigation and improvisation-- hitting ten-kilometer wide windows at Saturn after six years in space, repairing or bypassing damaged sensor platforms, radios, and batteries. Allegedly, one Real Programmer managed to tuck a pattern matching program into a few hundred bytes of unused memory in a Voyager spacecraft that searched for, located, and photographed a new moon of Jupiter."
I wonder what caused the decline of such people.
I wish I knew such a guy to ask him this and that.

Then what are you, if not a Real Programmer? Don't you spend your free time writing stuff in assembly?
Go ask yourself this and that
|
|

Oh, no no, really, I am not delusional I really want to communicate with such people, as for asking myself I do all the time, that's what happens when one have no one to talk to - talking to oneself - not a bad thing by the way.

When you talk to yourself, do you get a reply? Is it a "voice in your head"?
