No, I have been curmudgeonly and unhelpful last year so wasn't expecting a reward.

Well, you are a novel mystery to me Dave, but a book would not surprise me given your cunning linguistic abilities, and I'd look forward to reading it, homicides, or no homicides.
Happy New Year !

You surprise me ... I thought you said that "101 Ways To Use Glue Properly" was a book that you simply couldn't put down!

Although there is one surprising omission. I thought Bill would have been a shoo in this year.

I though they'd stopped MVPing for faffing about in the Lounge.

Curious, Josh Smith has won an MVP, according to his history he hasn't posted since 2012 .
Might be one for Bugs & Suggs? Seems a bit daft awarding MVPs to people who aren't active.

Looking at his reputation graph, many of his articles have been 'recognized' in 2013.
Just a hypothesis.

I *think* the MVPs are awarded purely on the basis of Rep gained in a given year, though on this basis it seems to be skewed in favour of authoring articles over answering questions. It just strikes me as counter-productive that CP is awarding inactive members when we've people who are very active (BillWoodruff has been highlighted, I'm sure therre are others) who aren't included. I expect it is be an easy process to remove people who haven't posted in the qualifying year (or some other criteria).

I don't think he was very active until the latter part of 2013.

"Most Valuable Professional"
"Most Valuable" implies there should only be one, and "professional" implies someone who does it for a living.
Surely something akin to "hypernerd" would be more appropriate.
