That should work to restore settings. But, those settings shouldn't have changed in the first place.

Sucks too because I like their cars. And to be honest, most of the problem was with the dealer lying but when Audi's NA Customer services' only option is to arbitrate between you and the dealer and has no power to escalate then they don't care. Also, yes, I realize, that when you are buying a nearly 70k msrp vehicle you are having a first world problem but, well, if you want to sell cars that expensive maybe you shouldn't treat your customers like dirt.
Last week of August I test drove a car, loved it. Unfortunately, no one in North America has the options I want so the dealership says, "No problem we can order it. It will be here November but don't get your hopes up so lets just say by the latest, Mid-December to allow for delays"
I sign the papers Sept 5th
Dealership goes back and forth on the paper work, not official until September 12th.
Nothing
Nothing
Nothing
October 8th Commission Number assigned (yes nearly a month to put in the system, no big deal the salesman says the car is still on track)
Nothing
Nothing
Nothing
Nothing
November 5th, build date assigned, December 13th delivery middle of January!
Ok, WTF, I called to complain, dealership accepts no responsibility. I called Audi, they call the dealership and as far as they car concerned it isn't their problem. I cancel the order and give it a week to see if any one will bother attempting to rectify the situation, nothing, so they are on the list.
Now, before you say I am just a first class whiner (which I am, I admit)
Had they told the truth in August maybe I could have settled on a different choice
Had they immediately processed the order, maybe it would have been done as promised
Had Audi NA been willing to look into production queues and find an unassigned vehicle that matched maybe they could have fulfilled the promise.
Instead, I was treated as if I should be thankful they are willing to take my money because I am dumb enough to want an expensive car. There is a reason that I don't shop at Walmart; if you don't need or want my business you will not get it.
Well, they lost that and now I will tell absolutely everyone about how terrible they are. So far several business on the boycott list have gone out of business ... so you know it works (or just seems that businesses who don't care about customers usually go out of business)
BTW, for those that think I only complain, how about a shout out to Publix ... the few times I have had issues the store manager (some of these guys make serious coin, this isn't a Radio Shack level manager) will drop everything and immediately correct the issue. No blame, no arguing, immediate. With a grocery store having such a low margin, you would think they wouldn't be bothered but they are. I was told by someone that works there if you get customer complaints you can be fired. They care (shop at publix)
P.S., Audi if you ever read this, if you deliver the car before December 15th (mid December) I will take you off the list
P.P.S. (thanks google): Audi, wenn Sie jemals lesen Sie diese, wenn Sie das Auto vor Dezember liefern 15. (Mitte Dezember) Ich werde Sie von der Liste

What is wrong with that? More than just "No!" would be helpful.

Ha, ha! Too funny, I think you are a troll.

Well, it's running a month late for a car that is being shipped from another hemisphere. I'm sure that the dealership doesn't have much control over the delivery date, they just have to go by what they're told. Sure, maybe they shouldn't have promised an earlier date, but they are car salespeople.
If you are going to boycott a car brand every time a dealership tells you something that turns out to not be true, you'll spend the rest of your life as a passenger.

In 1974 a friend of mine had a new Audi. In the first week it blew an expansion plug at the back of the engine. It took Audi over a week to get the part. Seems that, in the last 40 years, Audi hasn't improved very much.

So a sales person makes a promise about a long term delivery date and in your mind you thought that was an absolute promise?
In my mind I would have planned that there was no way it would arrive in November and I would have been surprised if it arrived by mid-december.
Ennis Ray Lynch, Jr. wrote: Last week of August I test drove a car...by the latest, Mid-December ...delivery middle of January!
You are willing to wait 3.5 months for a car but not 4.5?

No, if it were just the salesman, I would have just cancelled the sale and said well maybe next time... it was the lack of willingness of Audi NA to intervene and take corrective action in conjunction with allowing it in the first place. I got the distinct impression that they really didn't care.
Now let's play a counter example, had the order been immediately placed the factory could have immediately assigned a build date (Ford and BMW do this why can't Audi). Then any reasonable delays could be expected. But to not even enter the order into the manufacturers system for nearly two months and the manufacturer to take the attitude of, well tough, well that is how you lose business.
Also, I wanted nearly two weeks on the official boycott. I figured maybe someone would call with an apology and a plan of action. But no. Sure, in the level of a 5 dollar item that is completely irrational but if we presume that a luxury car has a 10% profit margin then they can afford the time to investigate an issue and resolve a conflict to close a sale. It is up to you if you think otherwise, but for my money, esp. this much, you have to at least pretend you want it. I don't have to buy the car.

Perhaps you misread what I said or I misread what you said. As I read it you got the initial delivery estimate from a sales person (their title might have been 'manager' or some such but it was still sales.) And it was a date that was not immediate but was instead quite a bit in the future. In that situation I just would not have believed their promised date.

That of course really doesn't say much. After all the same question applies to you - why didn't you buy from Ford/BMW in the first place? Maybe there is something in the speed up in the process that is the cause of your differentiation between the different manufacturers.

Me thinks your expectations are set way too high for a car dealership, expecting them to be honest, efficient and know what is going on is just unrealistic.
As for your Publix, my niece runs the Telstra shops in Oz, they have a similar policy, 3 customer complaints and you are out! The are still crap, they have shot so many horses they are trying to get donkeys to sing!

See my reply to jschell but if Ford and BMW can do it then I don't think it is unreasonable. I will probably just wait now and order the new M3 when it comes out. I kind of like the Audi better though, oh well.
|
|
|
|

Yeah probably best to go with the M3. You've made enemies at the Audi dealership, so it's probably not a good idea to buy a car from them now. They have to approve warranty coverage, you don't want enemies at the dealership.

I've always hankered after a TT but am realistic, I could never fold myself into one of them these days. I do miss driving, it is not viable to own a car in SG, barely get out of 2nd gear and you are across the island and taxes are ridiculous.
I am now waiting till I retire and will probably go for one of those high riding cross overs or maybe the S from Tesla.
