Be fair - the drink was a bottle of wine each ...

It was a beer and an ice-tea if I remember well, for some reason ice-tea is very expensive too in Denmark ...

It's obviously the water content of the drinks that makes them so expensive. In future, ask for dehydrated drinks!

I keep an emergency supply of dehydrated water in the car in case I get stuck in traffic and get thirsty.

It's a strange land, we also found that we only paid 36 Euro for 35 liters of Euro95 at a gas station in Blavand

That's because the petrol contains very little water.

Wish we had that price - last time I refueled the car it cost me £1.95/l: €2.25!

Luckily I managed to get back home in the Netherlands on one tank of gas, thanks to my new Skoda Fabia.
As the prices in Germany are very high at the moment, it makes no sense to tank in Germany anymore for us.
Strange times indeed!

My last gas stop cost me $12.32 (US) for 11.8 liters ($1.04/l). Of course the last time this car saw a gas pump was May 6th.

I refuelled at Asda in Watford today at 168.7p/l, smirking that just literally across the road in Sainsbury it was 169.9p/l. That saved me over 10 bob in "real" money.
Then I drove to Aylesbury where it was 153.9p/l.
Seems to be heading in the right direction for a change!

Sounds like Denmark hasn't changed much since I was there in late 1980's. I working on a job for a German company, when everyone wanted to go to Bang and Olufsen show in Denmark. We drove to the Denmark border at about 160kph where the speed dropped to 60kph. It felt quite strange. The pizza lunch was not cheap but it was far superior to any in Northern Europe. Curiously, all the American video movies being played on their video gear did not have sub-titles. They said it was cheaper and everyone in Denmark understood English. My German co-workers said they wished they could live and work in Denmark because the quality of life was better (much slower).
