Given that they'd had military training? Sure would.
I have no doubt it would beat lots of the craptastic code we get from external consultants today.

You might be on to something...
I'm seeing a 'Premium' add on for MS Security Essentials that not only clears/quarantines the virus, it launches a strike on the command and control servers.

Whatever it is it will be a big help to the soldiers transitioning out of the service, especially those that have families.

Not having served myself I am making some large assumptions but I would think the discipline and training required to become a soldier would be a great basis for the structured thinking required. The initiative required would help with analysis - I think it is a great idea and based on some sound thinking.
Then again there are some pretty bright people in the forces.

I'm thinking that a programmer is like a musician you either have the skills or you don't schooling helps bring out the inner talent. But many people don't know they have the talent until they take some training, that's what happened to me I had no idea I had the aptitude.
The services are all different and all have different levels of discipline and as far as training it depends on what your MOS, field you're in. For instance my brother was in the USAF and there is little or no discipline you kinda do your own thing, but I was in the USMC and it has a very rigid regiment.
You just never know about people!

Does this mean thaty there will finally be an FPS where you don't need to use eleven fingers, three toes, your nose, and the dog's left ear to aim and fire a gun?

Are you sure you were offering coding lessons? Maybe you typed coddling lessons? Or maybe you should type it that way, and you'll get some responses.

English follows other languages down dark alleys, knocks them over and goes through their pockets for loose grammar.

Avoid elephanting UI testing like the plague. I'm in day 2 of UI testing and I'm bored bored bored. We're testing on devices, and I've been lumbered with a HTC Desire Z (????) slow, more like HTC Repulse Zzzzzz - and no keyboard not designed for use by humans. Currently testing on an LG Optima 3, not a device I'd want to download pr0n on, a permanent squint would develop within minutes. Also, not keen on the click, pause pause pause, do something work ethic of the chipset, might be good for Harold Pinter, but no good in a phone.
On the up-side I'm out of the Radio 1 room while I'm on the project and we should re-start development soon.

A bunch of mad men are given a test to check their mental state. A doctor draws a door on the wall and orders them to go out. They start rushing to the door but one remains sitting. The doctor goes to him and asks, "Why didn't you join the others?" He replies, "Let them fight - they forgot I have the keys".
