Years ago, I did a reboot at 55 MPH by pushing the clutch in and turning off the engine and then turning the car back on.

Electric cars do not have clutches; they have rheostats! 😊

I already miss that electrics for driving system are separated from all other electrics, ie entertainment system. But if they did that telsa can't use the stirring wheel as a game controller

In normal, modern cars (except the Chrysler mangled Jeep) they are well separated with only a few allowed messages on the bus and private networks.
Tesla is designing cars starting without zero previous knowledge of automotive standards and why those standards are in place. Teslas are expensive, highly polluting and socially dangerous toys.

Friend of a friend with a prosthetic leg claimed multiple tickets dodged by “my leg slipped off and jammed the accelerator”.
Usually involved a dramatic fall from the car door and ripping the leg from the accelerator.

this is why you need manual control in case automaiton goes wrong

I would believe him!
I have gotten two software recall notices on my 2021 Ford F150 in the last 3 months.
One causes the transmission to shift into neutral while driving down the highway when it thinks that the transmission fluid pressure is too low.
The second causes the integrated electric brake controller to fail when towing a trailer. (I do a lot of trailering.)
Just a few days ago, the center console display was all jittery, jumping around, changing shading (night to day to night). I had to stop, shut off the engine and restart to clear the problem.
My 2012 F150 rolled when EPAS (Electronic Power Assisted Steering) software took over the steering when I hit a big dip in the road. I ended up hanging upside down by the seat belt.
I will not ride in a computer controlled car without my seat belt fastened anymore--I don't trust the computers!

Hi All,
Just to let you and know I am still around! Haven't signed in at work yet the Net Nazi's will block first and questions later! (wondering if CP is on there good books?) The worse part is the early start 07:30 (have to leave on the 06:20 train!!!) still getting paid is better than not, I tend to sit in the corner shaking drinking until around 08:30 to 09:00 when I can do something other than dribble! Cheers Glenn

Haven't you seen one of those maps with south at the top?

I wasn't exactly planning on buying any car until this morning since I'm still on my learner but fast forward a few hours and I have a Hyundai i30 in my parking. Not even sure if it's considered "perfect" for somebody's first car but who cares. It complements me and I'm just super excited to finally be part of the club

Most modern cars are fine for a first choice these days. The most important thing is that you enjoy driving it.

It's a hell of a lot better than my first car. My first car was a turd on wheels.
Congrats!!

Mine was a Lancia Beta HPE 2000.
Three years old, and already melting away ...
Nice car when it was running, but a PITA to work on when it wasn't.

1971 Plymouth Ruster Duster purchased in 1979 for US $100 ... I paid too much!

1977 Chevy Nova. Ten months later I totaled it and bought a 1978 Chevy Nova.
Both New England rust buckets.

So weird that this is the exact "turd on wheels" I was referring to.
My dad bought it from a neighbor for $300. When I eventually turned it in to get a new pickup truck they asked me how much I thought it was worth, I said 50 cents. They new I was not joking.

My second was a Simca with a years MOT (UK safety test) which I bought for £10. And sold it back to the guy I bought it off of a year later when the MOT ran out for the same £10!
Gawd, but that was a POS. Great for driving in London though, as nobody blocked it in as it was obvious that ramming their car out of the way wouldn't have added much to the existing dents, scratches, and broken bits ...
