I think that's why it's gapped. It's actually technically one of those "open air" chassis that's all the rage now, even though it doesn't look like it until you get close. There's a 1-1.5cm gap between the glass and frame on each of the 4 sides where there is glass.
There were a few negative reviewers among the overwhelming 4 and 5 stars that said they had heat issues, but I run a 1000 watt PSU and a 2080TI with an AMD Ryzen 7 4750G and 7TB of storage w/ no worries.
Also I think a lot of people are now moving to liquid cooled with the introduction of AIO cooling setups so heat dissipation becomes much more manageable. These cases are designed with liquid cooling in mind, although they are also designed so you can run air, like I do.

I'm surprised they make those. Are there not plastic equivalents? I suppose plastic is more easily scratched, and glass is a lot stronger. Given I keep my tower PCs on the floor, clearly I'm not in the target demographic.

Plastic dulls and scratches. It doesn't wear well, which is why the more expensive cases use glass and advertise it as such.

As honey the codewitch says it's a matter of durability. Plastic panels end up looking bad after a few years, so if you like the transparent look glass - despite it's weight and the shatter risk - is the better option. I don't, and find a front/top intake with an external dust filter is good enough as a clean me indicator. By the time it looks gross on the outside, the inside can use a quick blow out too.
Did you ever see history portrayed as an old man with a wise brow and pulseless heart, weighing all things in the balance of reason?
Is not rather the genius of history like an eternal, imploring maiden, full of fire, with a burning heart and flaming soul, humanly warm and humanly beautiful?

People with glass cases should not stow phones

you've drank the coolaid (rgb keyboard).
So a glass case allows for rgb components

I honestly don't like the lights in the case. I kind of miss the old days when computers were just computers and not shiny objects that had to look like condensed las vegas in a box.
But I do like seeing my components - particularly the fans, after what happened to me with them last time. Several died on me in my previous case and I had no clue.

There were 8 fans in my old machine. There are 6 in my current configuration. That's if I don't count the 3 on my video card nor the one on the PSU nor CPU.

Those suckers are really small (about an inch long) and you can hook them in parallel. If at least one fan fails you get a warning light or a siren or whatever. Hook them to an ESP32 and they can even send you an email when a fan failed

That would still be a lot of IO. I think I'll just keep my glass. It's pretty anyway.

Obvious question: What grade of glass is it? Window glass is comparatively fragile, but tempered glass, as in glass shelves, tables and so on, is much tougher.

Glass?
I do spill. Often. I'm clumsy, easily and often distracted. Got a spill-proof keyboard to prove it.
The desktop is littered with holes for ventilation. With a smoker and a cat, it doesn't even stand a chance to meet coffee, it won't live that long.
Glass?
Seriously, Mom would clean it like all the windows. Hot water and a lot of soap

Also another Australian cricketing great Rod Marsh gone, on the same day, today.

According to Wikipedia, Shane paid tribute to Rod Marsh a couple hours prior to his own passing.
He died on an island off of Thailand, no where near home, it sounds.
