My husband is a member of a gun club, and they train, and provide security for events.
He doesn't pose with his weapons. To the degree that it's a hobby, he does what a normal person with a hobby like that would do, and go to the range.
One of things about this country that has been steadily eroded by lobbyists is emphasis on gun safety.
And people wonder why we get some new story every week about some moron who shouldn't have had guns or kids being blown away by their toddler.

Only the government is allowed to handle guns, so army and police.
Security is rarely armed over here.
We do have shooting ranges, but I know very few people who've ever been there, one or two I think.
I guess this is unimaginable to many Americans, but guns simply do not exist in daily life over here.
I mean, of course they exist, but it's almost always illegal and criminal.
In 2019, someone shot some people in a tram in Utrecht, near where I work.
That's the closest I've ever been to guns.
There was also a shooting at a mall about ten years ago, people still remember it, even if they've never been there.
I think we've had one school shooting ever.

I get the feeling that "honey" is referring to something all together different.

People are allowed to organize militias in this country, fgs. At least in my state they are. Those militias can operate as an armed presence at part of an event where they are welcome. There is nothing illegal about that.
Google orgs like Socialist Rifle Association and the John Brown Gun Club.
We are talking about something different, clearly. Trouble is, I don't know what you're talking about.

I'll stand corrected...
...my experience is limited. I don't attend events where armed militias are needed - they sound "unhealthy".

What's unhealthy was what happened in Charlottesville.

It seems everything is political these days. Even decency.
It makes me a little sick. It's not your fault.
I'm just over it.

Even ignoring the crass timing, I fail to see the connection between Christmas and assault rifles ... maybe it's an "'Murican Thang".

Nah, we would have rebelled over the food at some point.
I’ve given up trying to be calm. However, I am open to feeling slightly less agitated.

What? Oh, the portions weren't big enough?

You say that like it's a bad thing.
And barbecue too. I'm more partial to Carolina than the stuff further west.

You all can't really speak about food quality.
You all stole most of the world's spices and can't be bothered to use them.
My favorite British food is Indian food.

Maybe that's what GB is doing wrong. We kill the food before throwing it into a fryer. Y'all are heartless.

The First Amendment to the US Constitution allows almost complete Freedom of Speech - including the right to make a public fool of oneself.
(I'm not going to discuss the Second Amendment - it's too close to both politics and religion)
Freedom is the freedom to say that two plus two make four. If that is granted, all else follows.
