I have been clean (narcotics and alcohol) since 2001. You can do this.

I have to. Some people depend on me just being alive.
Tomorrow will be my last day, for sure.

Just don't ever say you're clean of COFFEE! That is my only addiction and I plan to keep it!
Get me coffee and no one gets hurt!

Coffee in the morning, tea in the afternoon.
Its all I have left. I don't even smoke tobacco anymore.

Yeah, I won't end on "tea".

Morphine is good, pain sucks and as dangerous as the morphine. Lack of pain relieves stress on the body.
Get someone to cross check you...
Elephant - here in America that's a foot long incision? What the heck at they looking for or fixing? Probably TMI so no need to post but take it easy.

Then the wound got infected and had to be cut open again, without time for anesthetic. Yeah, that feels a bit rough.

You feel like you in Heaven.
And I fortunate that it is "just" morfine.

The surgery was last year, but the dependency on morfine is still there.
And as any programmer can tell you, dependencies are bad, mkay?

Crap on a cracker. My son has Crohn's and has had *some* surgery just not as extensive as what you're gone through. Feel for you Eddy.
My only point on the morphine is that pain killers (not necessarily morphine) can help the body relax, help sleep and let it heal. Went through this with paranoid inlaws after a major car accident.
pray you recover well.

Hate to say it. For your son, pain will be a part of life. That sounds bad, but it made me grow in unexpected ways.
If he has trouble eating, take him to a restaurant. And if he is missing part of his bowel, he should have his blood tested regularly.
And sorry. Your son is prolly braver and hardier then me, and he will do better

son is 11 Bravo. He's dealt with pain to the point of not paying attention to things.
Kicked in doors, humped mountains in Afghanistan and sent very bad people into the here after.
I think he has it under control, but you remind me to touch base.

Very military, infantry sergeant - 4 combat tours. People really don't know how much they go through.
That said, I think you'd find most soldiers very peaceful, up until bad guys come. I know my entire family has very little tolerance for bad people. The problem is not the soldiers. It's the politicians.

We raised people to kill, which doesn't fit in my tiny mind. But hearing or seeing what they do..
I see them as trained murderers. And there's those, but the army has trained technicians and erect a bridge in a few hours. They have cooks, medical personel, supplies. In a disaster you glad when the army arrives, every pacifist is. There's medical facilities with people in uniform before you can spit.
charlieg wrote: I know my entire family has very little tolerance for bad people. Define "bad"? You always welcome for coffee here.
But, doing illegal drugs among other things don't make me "good people" on most people's beliefs.
My respect for your son, four wars must be a hell.
..and as a pacifist, I accept the need for his role; without his kind, we'd have even more war. The biggest graveyard here, in this tiny spot of Europe, is an American one. Those who died for our liberty. They changed bloody history, they did.

That's nasty.
I've had Crohn's for over 40 years, have had three sections of my guts removed (in three separate operations), but I've never heard of an operation that went as badly as yours! I hope you make a full recovery and manage to kick the habit ASAP.

Daniel Pfeffer wrote: I've never heard of an operation that went as badly as yours! It didn't.
They took out 15 cm of intestines. Hooked it back up, no bag on my stomach. In total, 40 cm gone now. Meaning, there's enough left. Need shots of B12, since we miss the part that absorbs that.

I hate morphine. Yes, it works. Yes, it takes away the pain.
But for me it's "instant Alzheimer's" time: two or three weeks of no short term memory. Long term use will do that as well, but for me one jab is enough. My mother had it as well, so possibly it has a genetic component.
Personally, I'd rather live with the pain ...
Herself takes Zomorph twice a day, and the fridge has several bottles of Oromorph - it helps her a lot with hip and spine arthritis.
Hopefully, whatever they cut you open for, they fixed?

I prefer to work. I want to earn my worth. With pain, I can't, so I keep telling myself I need this.
With pain, I don't sleep. Have you ever been awake for five days in a row? At day four, you hear things. Day five you see things.
