At a mere 200 pages, there's no way a book on this huge topic will do any serious amount of diving into it. Why the page limit?

Sorry, but you won't be able to find such a magic book.
In networking, and specially with network security, it is all hands-on learning, it will take years of experience, with success and lots of failures to learn what you are doing. Should be doing. Or not.

I got simple network code running fairly quickly using the microsoft website documentation for the language I was using. C# at that time. That was even easier than reading a book about it.

I understand how he could have built the ramp and lined up the 50 chariots, but how did he convince the horses to jump over them?

Just saw that Outlook Express was being removed from Win 10 in the 21H1 update[^]. Brought back fond memories of my early days configuring the POP3 and SMTP servers even though I had no clue what I was doing.

Me too! In 2001 I wrote (in VB5, later VB6, and VB.Net) a DLL component that could read and extract the folder/message structure of Outlook Express .DBX files. Virtually nothing else did that, and none as a programmable component. Sold as shareware for about 10 years, but haven't sold a copy in a long while. Maybe if Win10 support is finally ending I'll get some takers!

Ah, fond memories indeed. I collect vintage computers. My most recent acquisition is a RadioShack TRS-80 MC-10[^]. I also have a collection of old operating systems in virtual machines. I can go back and boot one of those things up and remember how much simpler it was.

I'm not sure exactly what that means, given that OE isn't bundled with the OS. Are they claiming that if you do have it installed (which means a user has gone out of his way to find the installer and set it up), it'll be deliberately removed??
[Edit]
Ok, I've read the page...and it's not claiming anything re: OE specifically with 21H1; the page simply lists "features and functionality removed in Windows 10" - across all versions.
In light of that...the last column on that page ("Removed in version") says 1709...so...maybe OE was bundled at some point (I don't remember that far), but was actually removed 3+ years ago?
If you're only finding that out now, then it sounds like having it removed for the last 3 years hasn't really been a problem then...

Hi all, when I start a RDP session from my Surface Pro the virtual keyboard isn't available so I can't login to the remote box - anyone know of a way to do this ? I don't always have a physical keyboard available.
