At the moment it looks like one of our EE's will be doing the CANbus stuff; I'll just be writing the web service it uses to talk to the world. (Assuming when it goes from a "can we do it" proof of concept to "the customer is paying us to do it" implementation phase I'm not tied up doing something else anyhow.) I think the EE might have gotten the better half of the deal; the interface is going to be running on a linux small board computer so I'm having to work in Java instead of C#.
PS Before someone tries to be helpful and suggests ASP.net Core: It is a 1.0 product from MS, ergo production unready by definition.
Did you ever see history portrayed as an old man with a wise brow and pulseless heart, waging all things in the balance of reason?
Is not rather the genius of history like an eternal, imploring maiden, full of fire, with a burning heart and flaming soul, humanly warm and humanly beautiful?

There's gotta be a joke in here somewhere:

You should read the insider forum, I've been expressing my opinion of exceptionally insipid PR posing as news there that way for almost 3 years.

I know this topic comes up from time to time but haven't seen it in a while. I want to put Linux on a machine and wondered which version/flavor is currently most like Windows?
I have Zorin which is similar to Ubuntu but I hear there are better options.

I suspect he just compared Microsoft to the Rolex you get offered on the beach in Jamaica!

I see Microsoft more as the guy selling the Rolex. Except he doesn't so much sell it to you as he simply rips your current watch off your arm, tosses it in the ocean, then staples a new one to your wrist.

If Microsoft was the guy selling the watch, he'd throw away your real Rolex, and staple a Timex in it's place...

Or on 7th Avenue in NY. At least, that's where I bought one for my wife. Everything was OK until she took it in to have a new battery fitted. At least, the next two weeks were the most peaceful of a long marriage. She never said a word to me during that time, unless it was to issue an order.

I think it's highly presumptuous to align Microsoft with Gucci or Rolex. I see them more to be like Target or Walmart.

I have loved Linux since I put my kids on it and realized that I didn't have to clean up after it every time they went out on the web and the machine caught a virus - it just didn't catch them. That lack of headaches made it a wonderful experience alone, and the kids ended up learning a lot more than if they had had a more commercial system.

Which Windows-UI would you prefer?
I'd recommend installing Gnome on Ubuntu; if feels more like Win2000 than the KDE does.
