Oh come on! Windows phone is pretty good but Microsoft turned up late to the party and everyone had bagged off by then. I did switch to Android eventually so I could see how late my train would be each morning (if it actually turned up) etc. but I somehow feel Windows phone was more refined. For a more sophisticated owner.
I have a hard time getting excited about operating systems. Windows 10, runs applications, it's got files and printers and internet and stuff. There's nothing wrong with it!

Rob Philpott.

The trouble is that WP was late to the party - and even when it arrived first via Windows Mobile MS ignored it until Apple started making loads of money.
But instead of saying "hey, WM is a bit rubbish, but we can make it brilliant!" they decided "all systems need the same OS" which downgraded the desktop and over engineered the phone - check the system requirements for WP vs the equivalent Android device. That made the phone stupidly expensive, loaded it with piles of unnecessary software complexity, and added nothing significant to the user experience - except to annoy loyal desktop users.

I have a 950XL and it is a good machine - the facial recognition does improve as it learns you.
It does get hot though - esp. on Snapchat for unknown reasons..

I know what you mean about screen size. I broke my 6" phone, last year, and I couldn't find a 6" one with dual SIM slots (not for a price I considered was worth paying, anyway), so I had to replace it with a 5.5" (with on-screen buttons, too -- I'll watch out for that, next time), and it feels a lot smaller.
(Note: I'll slap the first person who replies "that's what she said")
I've noticed that a lot of phones seem to heat up more, these days. I'd put it down to more powerful processors, but it may be that they've learned more about tolerances (or that they want them to break faster, because people buy replacement phones very quickly).

I'm the opposite. Bought a 6" phone and hated it. It is too big for pockets and it fell out one too many times. Gave it to one of my kids to use for playing games and bought a smaller phone. Lucky for me, I buy cheap phones so the two of them still cost about 1/3 of an iPhone or similarly overpriced phone.

I have a 950 as well, my wife had a 1520.
The 1520 battery is crazy big; any battery life comparison needs to be tempered by that fact.
The 950 does like to heat up (it's very noticeable with the PMA/Qi charging) but, even with a solid shell case on it, I've not had a thermal shutdown nor apparent thermal damage.
The iris scanner is just not ready for prime time. It's nifty, but it's too slow. PIN entry is faster.

And you will accidentally activate Cortana 4 times a week by picking the phone up too near the corners.
And you will activate the Feedback Hub 3 out of 5 times when you try to turn the volume down. Or maybe it's when you try to turn it off.
And you'll be taking screenshots a lot, too, unintentionally.
What kind of moron decides to put the power button between the Up and Down volume buttons?
And, I don't know if it's the phone or not, or if all phones behave this way, but if there is a WiFi signal "out there" that it can detect, it will try to connect to it, messing up your cellular data while it tries. That means even if it just says some strange WiFi is "Available"...it waits for you to open Settings and supply a password.

ACCOUNTANTS? REALLY?
Three accountant checked in a small hotel, evening before some conference. The boy - replacing the clerk momentarily - charged them $30 ($10 each)...
However a few minutes later - after the clerk got back - he brought the accountants $5 as a special discount for the conference...
The accountants decided to keep $1 each and giving the remaining $2 to the boy...
Later that evening, they wanted to write down their expenses - as good accountant should, but was unable the get the right amount...
As each of them paid $10 originally and got back $1 later, they write down their expenses like this: 3 * $9 + $2 (the $2 they gave to the boy), but that sums up to $29 only!!!
What's wrong here?

Are we reduced to teaching maths to accountants?
$30 - original payment for all three accountants
$25 - payment for all three accountants for conference
$5 - refund
The expenses should be written as follows:
Conference - $25/3 = $8.33 (or for one accountant - $8.34)
Tip - $2/3 = $0.67 (or for one accountant = $0.66)
This adds up to $9 per accountant, which is what each of them actually paid out-of-pocket.
If you have an important point to make, don't try to be subtle or clever. Use a pile driver. Hit the point once. Then come back and hit it again. Then hit it a third time - a tremendous whack.
