So, are you waiting for Goudot?
(My sympathies for the gout)
If you have an important point to make, don't try to be subtle or clever. Use a pile driver. Hit the point once. Then come back and hit it again. Then hit it a third time - a tremendous whack.

This is Javascript. If you put big wheels and a racing stripe on a golf cart, it's still a f***ing golf cart.

This belongs in the Soapbox.
Get me coffee and no one gets hurt!

I wouldn't even go that far.
The joke gets old 8 seconds into it, and the whole thing lasts four and a half minutes.

I imagine I'm not alone in not having a clue what you're talking about.
Nor caring.
If it's politics, take it to the Soapbox.

So life has been rough on me lately, feeling a bit depressed.
A friend suggested I go to the petting zoo as that might cheer me up.
I went today, but not one person would pet me

That's because you forgot to wear the Brony costume!
Bad command or file name. Bad, bad command! Sit! Stay! Staaaay...

It's probably the same zoo I went to the other week.
In the 'Wolf' enclosure, there was just one small Chinese dog - it was a shih tzu.

At least there was plenty of space in the barking lot.

A code monkey, as most of us.

How do you get 20 Belgians on a flag pole?
Just pull up a portion of fries.

Well...
Depression is looming on my horizon as well, not completely unrelated to my very recent question right here.
I think I lack pets rather than petting.
... such stuff as dreams are made on

Pets are awesome, I have a cat and she isn't even very funny or cuddly.
I got her from the shelter and the first few months I couldn't pet her at all.
It took me a good year, but now she loves to cuddle (for about five minutes at a time and only with me).
When I'm in bed she comes to lay by my side until I've petted her and after about five minutes she leaves and comes back in the morning.
Sometimes I wake up in the middle of the night and I say her name and I hear a purring engine starting up next to me.
She doesn't do a lot of crazy stuff, mostly she just sleeps.
Seeing her do anything really warms the heart though
Dogs are great too, but require more attention. It's not very doable as a single person. A coworker does it, but has to bring his dog to a dogsitter every day.
Do yourself a favor and get a cat (preferably from a shelter, they need you!), best decision ever
They really brighten your days and reduce stress!
Whatever you do, hope it works out!
I hope you hear from your friend across the Atlantic (I'm assuming that's what it's about).
P.S. I'm not really depressed, notice the joke icon

The incredible voice of Esma Redzepova (Macedonia): [^].
Madam Redzepova died on December 11, 2016. An incredible life: [^]Quote: Redžepova was born on 8 August 1943 in Skopje, 20 Ivo Lola Ribar street.[8] At that time, Skopje was occupied by the Kingdom of Bulgaria, allied to Nazi Germany,[9] although the region was returned to Yugoslavia just two years later. She was the second youngest of six children in a Romani family. Her paternal grandfather was a Catholic Roma and her grandmother an Iraqi Jew, while her mother was a Muslim Roma from a village close to Skopje.[10]
Her father Ibrahim,[11] who had lost a leg during a German bombing in Skopje in 1941,[12] worked variously as a porter, circus strongman and shoeshiner.[13] He sang and played drums and sometimes performed at weddings.[8] Some of Esma's siblings accompanied him. Esma's mother was a seamstress.[12]
«There is a spectrum, from "clearly desirable behaviour," to "possibly dodgy behavior that still makes some sense," to "clearly undesirable behavior." We try to make the latter into warnings or, better, errors. But stuff that is in the middle category you don’t want to restrict unless there is a clear way to work around it.» Eric Lippert, May 14, 2008
