However, the salient point is "with some guidance." Having been here for 8 months now, and witnessed a complete lack of code reviews and hand-holding of junior devs by senior devs, and I completely fault management for that, I can see how that mess happened (and everything here is a mess.)
BTW, I've also taken a couple devs that are straight out of college under my wing, instituted a monthly "show & tell" so there's some communication about what people are doing, and informal code reviews with the people I work with. Ironic, but fun, given that I'm a part time contractor.

Somebody I must have bought something from on FleaBay leaked my address, telephone number and mail address to some scammers. Over the last year they have sent me different mails, always claiming that I forgot to pay a bill and now owe them that amopunt plus a 'small' fee for their expenses. And always they show my old address and telephone number and threaten to take legal action if I don't pay. Also, I don't want to know what happens when you open the attachments they always urge you to read. Do they really think I fall for this after not working four of five times already?
Now they have changed their strategy. If they can't scare me enough, maybe it will work using my greed. I can now may make a few thousand bucks extra every month with only a few hours work. No doubt, I will first have to send a few bucks, but that's nothing more than a formality and I can read the details in the attachments. And guess what they sent me to show that they know all about me? The same old address and telephone number as always.

That's also what I said when they came up with the theory that a T-Rex was too dumb and to slow to catch any prey. It did not have to be very smart, nor very fast. It only had to be better than the usual victims.
Is that what we have here? Some guys who are just barely smarter than those they try to get?

Why would they bother removing you from their list - as you pointed out it costs nothing to send the email and it would cost time and effort to weed out all those who did not respond.
Besides you might have a brain fade and click on the attachment. I have been assiduously marking junk mail that gets through Arvixe's pathetic filtering, They stopped for a couple of months but then they changed the sender ids for the whole set and I get to marks another 1000 emails as junk.
It does help that they are all of the same format, centered header and text in various colours.

What you could have done (still can do for the future) to avoid such messes.
Get yourself a domain with email forwards. Set up the catch-all.
Now, everyplace and everyone you do business with can be assigned an identifiable email address on-the-fly that will go to your catch-all.
Some spam arrives? Whoever sold you out has implicitly given you their signature. You could simply point the email address to them (if you know it).
At the least, map that forward to a hard bounce (which are removed from the spam lists, eventually).
Meanwhile:
If there's a return email address that you can be sure is theirs, use SMTP to send them a few thousand admonishments that spamming isn't nice. My "mass mailer" can randomize email return address withing the major domains and add a little garble to the subject and body to make each a bit different.
You won't end the world of spamming - but pushing that "SEND" really is a pleasant feeling.

It is fixed now: the culprit was, strangely enough, electrics.
What happened was that while installing my grip heaters we fixed a binder too tightly around the cables and one of those, in time, got damaged inside the isolation, resulting in a bad contact and the engine stalling.
And thusly, we learn.

Glad you got it fixed.. but grip heaters!! You youngsters are far too soft these days! All you need are some thick gloves and a Fisherman's Friend! 
Now is it bad enough that you let somebody else kick your butts without you trying to do it to each other? Now if we're all talking about the same man, and I think we are... it appears he's got a rather growing collection of our bikes.
