Well, I went out to a Microsoft stand today, to have a look at the Surface tablet.
Physically, it seemed quite a bit thicker and chunkier than my Galaxy Tab 10.1.
First impressions, its quite snappy, the slide from the side gestures are usable and became second nature in a couple of minutes.
However, Apps do take a while to load.
And I managed to freeze it with after a few minutes. So I asked the sales girl, how I press Control-Alt-Delete on a tablet because it's locked up. She took it off me with a frown and did something I couldn't see and waited til it rebooted before giving it back.
No greater reminder that it's a Microsoft product, than to have it crash

Microsoft engineers wanted to make sure users didn't accidentally initiate this command, so you must do a double crossover, two fell-swoops, and a triple lindy.

Wow, I haven't managed to do that with mine in the time I've had it, and I've had mine since the 26th.

Are you saying that your Surface crashed on the 26th., and you have been unable to re-boot it since then ?
I'm sorry: the devil, and my years with Windows, made me say that

LOL, no. I, of course, meant that mine hasn't had any crash issues. I only included the date so there would be no question of whether I'd been using it for more than 2 minutes.

You seem to be the type of guy who's either very lucky or who does not push his devices too much. You had a good time with the WP7 whereas I crashed mine every week, and now you seem to be doing well with WinRT as well

Very true. I'm going to lean toward "lucky". It's not as though I've babied either of my Windows Phones. I haven't pushed the Surface as hard as I could yet, but I've used it quite a bit. As I continue to work on my first Win8 app, I'll push it harder since it's going to be my test machine.
